The new Dido? But a bit more produced and less acousticy. A bit odd-looking, but probably a good lass and game for a set or two of ping-pong.

I'm sorry, I don't mind Dido. Well, there goes what little cred I carefully garnered within these forums. Meh. She's a grand lass. Doesn't trouble the press with endless crash-dieting escapades, boyfriend bovva or en-suite cocaine habits. She's like Corn Flakes - dull, but you've always got 'em in your cupboard.

Next? Public Enemy

Never heard of

Eminem

Eminem has done some tracks that I don't mind and plenty more which irritate the hell out of me (Public Enemy were much more entertaining)

The Damned

Early doors, they were pioneers. I was 0 years old in 1976 and not allowed to go to gigs, but if I had been, I would have wanted to see The Damned more than

The Sex Pistols. Remember some footage of them from the Old Grey WT??? or something?

I don't know a lot about them, but New Rose is quite high up my iTunes playlist, and they did a good line in album titles.

The Wedding Present (in hope, more than in expectation).

Believe it or not - there was a time when Metallica were exciting, original and ..... good

Sadly these days they are pretty much a parody

I really went off them big time when hetfield started singing rather than his original style - which I won't call shouting but which was far more rough and hardcore

All that cráp with an orchestra really summed up how low they had sunk

On the plus side they produced 4 stunning albums before they went poo

First saw 'em at Donington in '87 - Unfortunetly too late to see the Cliff Burton line up

Last time was Leeds festy '03 - Which was better than expected because apart from about 4 songs everything they played was from the first 4 albums

Was at Donington last year when they headlined but didn't bother to watch them - Went to see Young Heart Attack and The Suicide Girls show on one of the small stages instead

Young Heart Attack - Please make some effort IE don't reply with never heard them

Now for some real quality:

Named after a lyric in a Stranglers song (Toiler On The Sea) - So a good start

Ridiculous hairstyle (even by my standards) - Not so good

Unfortunetly the music didn't come anywhere near that of the Stranglers and the flock are now mainly remembered for the name and the hairstyle - A sad epitaph

The Donnas

Pass again, but let us return to....

OK - Now someone can tell me about The Stranglers

A contender for the best band from the last thirty years.

Until Hugh Cornwell left, anyway (JJ should have become the vocalist at that point).

A glimmer or two of past glories on their last 'Norfolk Coast' offering...

....but only really a simulacrum of what they used to be.

Alot of catchy tunes, I used to love them, but now after maybe 'overlistening' to them, I have gone off them.
