Rincewind Posted 25 June 2013 Author Posted 25 June 2013 RIP I'm a big fan of blues music from the 50's & 60's. Great voice. Me too. Not sure why. It has Country and Jazz roots but I'm not keen on those genre's. Bought a CD today £1. Eric Clapton Unplugged. His acoustic versions of some of his and others. Layla is completely different. Not heard much of Bobby Bland but he did back and tour with some greats including Van Morrison.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Got a couple of tracks of his on a various artists cd. RIP.
Jimothy Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Honestly not being funny, but do we have to start a thread every time someone remotely famous dies? Fair enough when it's someone majorly famous like Thatcher, Mandela, etc, or when the Queen or Prince Philip go, but for someone of Bobby Bland's ilk, surely that's what the deathlist thread is for.

Its not as if celebrities are dropping dead every day and this forum is full of threads for each one. Don't see the harm in opening a new thread where people can put there thoughts about a particular celebrity or famous person.
Rincewind Posted 25 June 2013 Author Posted 25 June 2013 Sorry. Part laziness on my part/ I was going to saearc but thought Nah people won't mind.

I downloaded a blues compilation from Amazon last year for a ridiculous price, 45 tracks for a quid I think. Had a couple of Bobby Bland tracks on there, along with stuff by Muddy Waters, BB King, John Lee Hooker etc...

I would say people as famous or more so than Bobby Bland die at least once a week, it's only four days since someone start a thread on Slim Whtman kicking the bucket. Just don't think these people a really worth their own threads, they are hardly Thatcher or Mandela, and they are old, so it's hardly a shock.
