The God Emperor Posted 11 November 2013 Posted 11 November 2013 Most private businesses have debts too. There is a generally held perception that debt is bad, but this isn't really true. Lending is an absolutely fundamental part of capitalism. manageable debt is fine. but Government mis-management of currency has lessened the purchasing power of the public's wages leading people into situation when they have to behave like the government and pay loans off with more loans treating debt like it is an asset.
Smudge Posted 11 November 2013 Posted 11 November 2013 one post in and it has already turned political I wouldn't worry too much about national debt tbh as long as GDP is going in the right direction. Obviously you should still vote conservative if you have any interest at all in the health of the economy. That might be true if the percentage of debt to GDP remained the same, the point is it isn't. That's like saying the mortgage is going up by 15% per year and income is increasing by 5%. I'm not sure if this is a concern also but the poulation is rising at a very fast rate, from 60.5 million in 2005 to 63.5 million in 2013. Lets just hope that most of those 3 million are wealth producers and and not dependants, I somehow doubt that.
