andy_croydz Posted 14 July 2004 Share Posted 14 July 2004 West Brom have confirmed the signing of Leicester City keeper Ian Walker. The Baggies claim to have beaten off a host of rivals to increase competition for the keeper's jersey. After passing a medical, Walker will be officially unveiled as a new Albion player. "We faced quite a bit of competition to sign him," Baggies boss Gary Megson told the club's official website. "Even as late as last night, as Ian was walking across our car park, a Bundesliga club rang his agent to try and sign him as he was about to put pen-to-paper here! "Ian had opportunities to join another Premiership club, a First Division club, two Spanish teams and two Bundesliga clubs. "But he's decided to come here." Walker is an England international joins on a three-year deal, with the option of a fourth at the club's discretion.
