Guest ttfn Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Also we fell off when James got injured last season. Rubbish. We fell off when Drinkwater started playing like a complete dick, along with half the rest of the team. It was the James-King pairing that was responsible for some really good performances at the end of the season.
ealingfox Posted 9 January 2014 Author Posted 9 January 2014 Short-term James alongside Drinkwater Long-term James alongside King. I think this has been King's quietest season and Drinkwater has been fantastic but King still has a mental side of the game that is second to none. That's what makes him as good as there is at this level. James is a very rounded player and whilst King and him can be a little too similar they can fulfil different role to compliment each other. I still have some concerns over Drinkwater in the long-term as he seems to panic and struggle when things don't go our way but he's got to be one of (if not) the first names on the team sheet at the moment. Is there a team in the league with a better midfield than us? Don't think so. The best part about it for me - King is 25, Drinkwater is 23, and James is just 22 years old! I think people forget this. They could all improve with age and experience significantly as time goes on, then we could really have players on our hands.
Weller in Tights Posted 9 January 2014 Posted 9 January 2014 Went for James. He does so much of the basic work around the pitch, yes simple stuff at times, but the sort of stuff that Lennon used to do that allowed Izzet to express himself.
