DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 I remember it all so well. We seemed to get so much respect from the big guns, and could match them pretty well in the early to mid sixties. I just loved playing Liverpool, and remember the game mentioned above as though it were yesterday. Filbert Street had so much atmosphere in the sixtiesy, and so many great players that we couldn't afford today. Heady heights indeed.
BoyJones Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Was at the first game in the popular side as well. Listened to the replay on the wireless! The most nerve racking second half I have ever listened to, every attack you expected Liverpool to score. I am not religious, but I was hands clasped together praying that we held out, I used to keep newspaper reports of city games as a kid and still have the Daily Express report of the game with a picture of Shilton diving to his right saving the penalty. Now pushing 62 that game made me so proud to be a city supporter, there have been quite a few games obviously, but being brought up supporting a cup fighting team, I suddenly feel like a teenager again thinking of that team. My one wish is that we win the FA Cup before I pop my clogs. Great days, sorry to reminisce.
