Running London Marathon for #TextEllis

Hi FoxesTalk readers,

My name is Tom Clarke and I'm a big Leicester fan. I've been so impressed by what dad Richard has done in cycling to every away game for his son, Ellis I've pledged to run the London Marathon to help raise funds for the Text Ellis campaign. It's only just over a month now until race day so I've been hitting the streets hard in a bid to get the miles in my legs. I'm currently up to 18. If you can find it in your heart to kindly donate whatever you can to the Text Ellis campaign it would make all my weeks of training worthwhile.

Good luck with the run. I ran London in 2012 and the atmosphere is amazing. It tends to get quite crowded on the actual run, so be prepared for that. Steel yourself for a bit of a rough time as you turn for Canary Wharf as the crowds die away for a bit and everything becomes a bit too real, it is about 18 miles and it really hurt me around then. Sounds like you are well trained though and will do great. enjoy it.

I have already given to textellis and so won't give again. You should set up your own justgiving page so that you can keep a tab on how much you raise and then pass it on to textellis (there must be a way of doing this) as I think your friends are much more likely to give if they are giving directly to you and are able to give you a message of encouragement etc.. Also, get the charity itself to make you a running top (if it isn't too late) with their details printed on it. It will cost them a little bit but you are putting yourself through a lot for them and the publicity (local press etc) react much better to that kind of thing - the rewards are, therefore, greater than their outlay. Or, as I did, get a local company to sponsor the top by buying it and printing it (including their logo of course - they have to get something from it) and making a small donation to the charity. I raised over £3000 for my charity this way.
