Kitchandro Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 While I prefer this season, I hate, hate, HATE the mentality of any fan who suggests their side somehow "doesn't deserve" what happens to them, good or bad. We were in League One because we had been utter shite for the best part of half a decade at that point, and in hindsight we all seem to accept that it ended up being a huge wake-up call which started us on the road to where we are now. Suggesting Leicester didn't deserve relegation to the third tier is like Manchester United fans assuming they have a god-given right to win the title at a canter every year. It's a delusion of grandure and makes us sound like the idiots up the road, currently managerless, toothless and still at a loss as to how they aren't an established Premier League club anymore on the basis that they were a good team three decades ago. See, also, the farce at Leeds for big-time charlies getting no sympathy from their fellow supporters. I don't want to be like that. Where on earth did you get all that from? It can't be from the post you quoted. We shouldn't have been in League One, you cannot argue against that.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 This promotion, because we shouldn't have been in League One in the first place. Eh? Did you see how shit we were that season (and the seasons prior?) We were bloody abysmal. Of course we deserved to be down there
BoyJones Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 I've been supporting City over 50 years and this is the best one or on a par with 1970/71. As an 18 year old, I will never forget the football train special home from Portsmouth last match of the season which we won 2-1. Always live in the memory despite the copious amounts of Sainsbury's pale ale (it was cheap and cheerful drink and guaranteed to make you wretch) That year was strange because we went undefeated for a long period at the end of the season, but actually averaged less than a goal a game for the last dozen or so fixtures. I think 1-0 was our favourite score, as soon as the ball was in the net, we shut up shop. This team is in many ways much more exciting, so actually, notwithstanding the four hour journey home running up and down the train getting steadily worse for wear, I will go for this year - the lads have scored so many goals and we may well reach our points record total.
