Guest Posted 14 August 2005 Posted 14 August 2005 I believe it is illegal to find someone's details using their IP address. Something to do with the Data Protection Act. If someone is being racist, then report it to the police, as they would be allowed to track down the perpetrator.

There are two main areas of law here Data Protection Act The Computer Misuse Act 1990 Far too much reading for me though

Rincewind Posted 14 August 2005 Posted 14 August 2005 not sure about the data protection act but if you find the address don't think you can reveal it to anyone else for gain. never thought about it before when the morons appeared on the other mb and they were tracked down. Its a point that needs to be aware of in the future. The best thing would be to seek advice from the RRB or the police. They have the authority to deal with it.

Rincewind Posted 15 August 2005 Posted 15 August 2005 dont know if you can contact the webmaster of the domain and tell them this person is abusing the site. bad for their name if it becomes public knowledge that the domain user is doing this.
