Guest Col city fan Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Chelsea are far worse for doing that, how many young players have they got signed up and sent out on loan? Courtois has spent three years on loan at one club. They give teenagers contracts worth over a million pounds. Adam Johnson played a lot of games for Man City, so I don't know why you are including him. Your romantic notion is just that, players go for money and I don't know why fans get so attached to it all. Rooney has handed in transfer requests yet receives a five year, £300k a week contract? The fans booed him but now sing his name. This episode is sad and depressing but it's hardly confined to Man City alone, their players just have different ways of expressing it. Of course I'm not confining it to Man City alone Corky. Of course not. However, Man City seem to kinda get away with it, in terms of the level of criticism aimed at them. I think this is based on their (for some reason) being seen historically as a 'nice club'. A 'fans club' if you like. They aren't now. They are ruthless and will pay whatever it takes to buy success, yet still appear to have some affinity with football fans per se, whereas Chelsea, for instance, are loathed. I've asked why and have literally had the answer back 'because they are a London club' (or words to that effect). You work that out? And yes, without a doubt, Adam Johnson's football development stalled big time at Man City. Its only regular playing time that has got him firing again.
