BMR Posted 23 August 2005 Posted 23 August 2005 2 secs to find this HOP, use the search engines VISITING PETERBOROUGH BEER FESTIVAL The Festival is held in massive marquees on the river embankment in Peterborough. The site is only a few minutes walk from Peterborough Railway Station and from the bus and coach stations. The address is The Embankment (Behind the Key Theatre), Bishops Road, Peterborough PE1 1EF Here's the Festival site on StreetMap Here it is on the new Google Mapping site. We are right in the middle; the green bit to the left of Frank Perkins Parkway and just above the river that is the dark streak running horizontally. Taxis are available at the rail and bus stations and we provide a taxi rank just outside the entrance to the festival. If you are travelling by public transport then you can plan your journey on Traveline. If you are coming by train then you can plan the journey and see how the trains are running on the National Rail site and you can purchase rail tickets in advance on the TrainLine site For travel by bus or coach, Peterborough specific information can be found on the Peterborough Bus Times site. If you are travelling by road, then online route planners are provided by the Automobile Association and by the RAC. We will also have RAC signs on the main routes into the City. This map shows the main routes and here it is on MultiMap. http://www.beer-fest.org.uk/index.php?module=info
Rincewind Posted 23 August 2005 Author Posted 23 August 2005 cheers. My next stop was to be the CAMRA site. I have it bookmarked. Just wondering if I had to pass neer a Chjav estate or anything which the site would not say. Anyway can still be called up to do a shift. Four days are unaccounted for on my timesheet. Too late for today I think. Thursday is free at the fest for CAMRA members so that'll be the best day. I'll shall have to ring them. I always get a glass at fests. Went in O' Vaults (Leicester) yesterday lunch. They were selling what was left over from their fest at £1 pint. Cant be bad.

Stay on the left bank and you can't miss it. Decent pub as I recall. Never meet anyone with a decent word to say for the place now but my experience was of memories to last a lifetime.
Rincewind Posted 23 August 2005 Author Posted 23 August 2005 Got the train timetable. Told my work not to call me on thursday. Boring but funny. They called me up just under a hour ago and asked me to cover at a place till 9. I rushed got ready and was waiting outside to be picked up. Guess what? They called me up and said they didn't need me. They had got hold of someone who could get there quicker. To all those at school, don't take up secxurity as a career. Its a 24/7 on call job.

Rincewind Posted 25 August 2005 Author Posted 25 August 2005 Just got back. Good day despite the odd shower of rain. Thought it was open all day but it closed from 2.30-5.30. (thats when it rained the worst) Went in a pub called the Charters by the riverbank. Nice place. Good selection of beers. Now I need sleep. Got hom just after 8 am this morning. Went bed for about 3 hours then got the train and been on the piss all day. Peter'boro is a nice little village but I could not see many pubs in the City centre area. Did I miss them all?
