Rincewind Posted 12 September 2006 Posted 12 September 2006 This is the sort of thing to be posted for pubs near football grounds on my beer site.. There's more posted for Hereford than Leicester. We need some recommendations for Championship sides. Lloyds Bar, 10 Bond Street Nuneaton Recommended by: Weatherman Team Supported: Nuneaton Borough/Leeds United Not the closest pub to the ground, not even the closest one serving Real Ale, but only 10 to 15 minutes away, and only 100 yards from the train and bus stations 10 Real Ales on hand pump, many of them hard to find beers from micros. Beers ordered by number and not name, this makes it easier for the bar staff due to the quick turnover of beers, simply check the beer list on the chalk board and use the reference number. Was the home of Fantasy Brewery but I'll have to check up on the state of play there as there is no reference to the brewery in this years Good Beer Guide.
The People's Hero Posted 12 September 2006 Posted 12 September 2006 What is this thread actually about?
golden gordon Posted 12 September 2006 Posted 12 September 2006 What is this thread actually about? i thought it was like a "name 5 famous belgians" thread , if it is a nuneaton version of this , i can only think of larry grayson
cisono Posted 12 September 2006 Posted 12 September 2006 What is this thread actually about? Not sure, the thread title doesn't match the contents of even the first post...
Rincewind Posted 12 September 2006 Author Posted 12 September 2006 just passing on information about where to have a pint when attending football matches. Obviously you are all teetotal on Foxestalk and fully paid up life members of the Temperance Society. In that case the links that I have spent time sorting and providing for you all I suggest are not for you. Maybe the title of the thread should have been: Anyone from Nuneaton because I have found a post on another site that recommends pubs near football grounds that football fans can visit and sample a wide range of beers. I have chosen Nuneaton to post as it is not too far from Leicester. to make the topic a little clearer to those who struggled with the content.
golden gordon Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 you mean its not a "name 5 famous nuneatonians" thread , i'm disappointed now , after all the research i've been doing .........i've still only got, larry" shut that door" grayson on my list though,
The People's Hero Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 Ben Daniels, actor (born in Nuneaton) George Eliot, author Larry Grayson, comedian Ken Loach, director Adam Whitehead, swimmer Mary Whitehouse, campaigner All inhabitants of Nuneaton apparently. At one point, obviously. God bless Wikipedia.

At one point, obviously. God bless Wikipedia. impressive list of old nuneatonians there tph , that bloke george eliot sounds a strange bloke though , i suspect him and larry would have hit it off and mary whitehouse too ......i thought she was from tonbridge wells .........game old bird if ever there was one though
The People's Hero Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 I think MW was from TW and just lived in N for a bit perhaps?
golden gordon Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 I think MW was from TW and just lived in N for a bit perhaps? i was just joking about her coming from TW , re her type of; "disgusted of tonbridge wells" attitude, i really don't know much of where she came from or where she lived
The People's Hero Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 The thing is, the wikipedia article isn't that clear over whether these people just lived in Nuneaton for a bit, felt a real affinity with the place, were born there or whatever. I was under the impression MW was from round 'ere.. that is to say Sarf East.
Rincewind Posted 13 September 2006 Author Posted 13 September 2006 I think I'll start this thread again. It appears to have been hijacked by some unscrupulous people.
Matt Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 I'm from Nuneaton, Don't see too many Nuneaton too often then when I do don't really drink before matches when I do, Pub closest to the Ground - Cock and Bear (Obviously!), Lloyds Bar is ok I spose not the best, My favourite is The George (George Elliot Hotel) thats in the Town Centre isn't too far to the ground, about 10 minutes at a guess...
