Tommeh Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 Rumuor has it!!! Has anyone else heard this? Why was he on the bench today??? Because Kelly though he'd annoy everyone and play O' Grady! Won't believe anything til I see a link (does no include transfer rumours.com!) - More shite on there than was on display at the walkers today. JoeyB Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 i think the only reason he was on the bench is because he has played alot of games this seasons and looks like he's getting tired. he is still youngish too.

Although watching Hume's attitude at half time just summed up the confidence they have in Kelly.

OriginalRobboFOX Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 why did he play? was mcauley injured? sorry i cant remember if he was on the bench!!! d'uh!!! think he was so pissed at the inept performance against Southampton that Nissa and Macauley (20 x better than Paddy Mac IMO) were dropped. Tiatto should of been involved today (never thought I'd say that)
Simi Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 agreed did you see the 'try to hit the dugout seats' game goin on?? dedication Yes I did, although I found it quite amusing it does show that they do not really mind that they are not involved at the moment. lookwhaticando Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 why did he play? was mcauley injured? sorry i cant remember if he was on the bench!!! d'uh!!! McAuley was dropped completely. No word on injury. Here's the scenario I suspect to be true. Kelly wanted to bring McCarthy back - a 2-0 loss allowed him a great chance. He took it. However, he also decided to make 3 other changes in the back four - one of them was Kenton who's about as match fit as Lee Morris ever was for us, having not played in three months nearly. So, instead of having a CB on the bench, we had a full-back instead - Maybury. Fact is, we usually have solid full-backs - Maybury/Stearman/Johansson - the kind of players who never seem to get injured, as annoying as that is. So we don't need a full-back on the bench when we have pretty injury-free ones on the pitch. CB is often a liability, though, with some hotheads at the back. *cough* So typically we have a CB on the bench. But with a player returning from injury, RK decided to have a full-back instead - Maybury. Just in case an unfit Kenton conked out after 40 minutes or whatever. After all, his hamstrings aren't the best in the business. /theory.
lcfc_jme Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 I hope this is not true. If we lose Hume from the team, we're going to lose most of our energy and attacking threat, and we'll find goals even harder to come by than we do at the minute. Sell Hume to Watford and be left with Hammond and Fryatt upfront, with O'Grady as the third striker in case of injuries/substitutions. Sounds great to me

What I don't understand is why does Kenton come straight back into the starting 11 when Maybury has not done a great deal wrong. Kenton didn't have a good game today and constantly got dragged in field, leaving gaping space for the Sunderland winger.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 Hume - Shows touches of class occasionally Fryatt - Disappeared Hammond - Cannot control a ball to save his dear old mums life O'Grady - Bag of wank If Hume goes we're up shit creek
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 January 2007 Share Posted 1 January 2007 Mate of mine is a Watford STH and there's been nothing on their mailing list about it, which is usually full of as much crap as this place is I would imagine. They need a striker, they're getting linked with loads of people.

He can't be anywhere near proper match fitness - he's not played much at all for months! I don't even remember if he's played any part in any of the recent (haha!) closed-door games or not! That actually pisses me off a little. I got nothing against Kenton, but it was dreadfully silly to throw him in like that when we have fully fit options available. I mean Maybury fell out of favour for a while, but he's had plenty of games recently. Why not use him? It's not as if Johansson is unfit either. Why he was dropped too baffles me. There'd better be news of injuries to these or I'll be very disappointed in the manner this team was selected.

Kelly :- 'Im gonna drop Macauley, Maybes and Nissa, ok mike?' Stowell :- 'Chill.... winston...'
