A step backwards? From Chelsea to us? It’s not a step, it’s a huge tumble from the very top of the staircase hitting every step on the way down, and then landing in dog shit.

    Not happening.

I guess it depends on how many floors and flights of stairs……he’ll probably be unconscious or dead by the time he lands in the shit

100% it's not like he hasn't managed recently and the deal would probably only run to the the end of the season.

If he keeps us up then that will be ok, if he gets us into the playoffs even better.

If we want to have a shot at getting into the playoffs and filling the stadium again this is the only option imo.

    Playoffs ?

we’re going nowhere near them….only downwards

It likely is, and what’s the vision if we did by chance get promoted, are Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley stronger than us….for sure, have we got the funds to buy, sure not…..write it off, offload the players, and assess Marti after seasons end….,there is absolutely no point in us getting promoted, poor ****er had 3 kids, one of whom got sent off, none of whom are ready, plus the rest who want away/are here for the money……

Not a cat in hells chance of promotion.

so no point bringing it up imo

Look he took a pay cut to come to us.

He didn't get the full compensation when he left QPR.

If I remember right a few on here wanted Liam Manning.

Ps: We can't afford to sack him and points deduction looming. So buckle up people he's here for a bit longer.

I think it was actually Bernard Manning as he had potential to turn the air blue and that may have encouraged the players.

Appointing Cooper in the first place was equally stupid.

I still think Cooper would have given us a slim chance and kept us in touching distance of Wolves

It was always going to be a mini league of 4 clubs but RVN has completely screwed it.

I didn’t rate him but he had us scoring and would defo of fluked more pts than the Dutch halfwit imo

RVN walked into thi mess ,and he wasn't backed by the board, if the board had said there is no money for the January transfer window, then I believe that RVN wouldn't have taken the job .

RVN was lucky to get the job

He shouldn’t even be here……complete novice…..non league calibre manager

Can’t exactly blame him if the club were mug enough to offer him a 3 year deal with 2 prem games of experience.
A little due diligence would’ve seen Burnley opted for Parker in the league below in the Summer.

3 year deal seems mighty risky for a club that sacked the previous manager after 12 games and finances were tight.

It was the most cretinous appt of a manager  without any foundation of is ability or any track record.

At best you would give him a contract for the season to try and keep us up but anything longer is pure negligence especially after the Rodgers debacle.

We could still be in with a shout of survival with someone else in charge as Wolves are still in touching distance but it’s now game truly over and we are down with a clueless and rudderless Rude.

The fact we haven’t even scored a goal for months is criminal and it does beg the question where would we have been if we had kept Cooper.

    That we will never know

This is an emotional statement, not a rational one. We will almost certainly have one of the strongest squads in the Championship next season - likely stronger than either Burnley's or Sheffield Utd's this year, and they're both in contention for an immediate return. I agree relegation is depressing and it makes it worse that it was avoidable with better recruitment last summer, but this idea that we'll be thrown into an inexorable downward spiral if we go down isn't based in reality.

I think it’s rational with RVN at the helm which is how I see it.

A strong squad is meaningless unless you have a Manager that can compete and win games and it won’t happen with him.

It depends on who replaces him and even then it’s a lottery to get out the Championship so I don’t see it ever happening in the next 5 - 10 years.

We had a better chance had Cooper remained but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I hope I’m wrong but all I can see is mid table mediocrity for the seasons ahead.

Are you attempting some kind of record for the amount of hyberbole you can fit into one post?

Everything Clever Fox said is correct. It is undeniably true that RvN has had to work with a horribly-assembled squad that isn’t good enough for this division and into which he had zero input. The club did not back him in January. It is also true that RvN had had to work with key players absent through injury. And it is also true that there is more structure to the team and more coherent patterns of play under Ruud than under Cooper. We do seem to be more well drilled and have more of an identity now than we did earlier in the season, when we were reliant on periods of chaos to score goals and gain points.

However, nobody can deny that so far the results have not improved under Ruud. More structure has not yet brought us more points. And while he has taken steps to improve the defence by reintroducing Okoli, his persistence with Ayew and BDCR either side of Vardy in attack has been baffling given how poor we’ve been in attack. If he refuses to roll the dice and change things up in attack, we will go down with barely a whimper and it will not reflect well on him as a coach.

For me, the jury is still out on Ruud. He’s been given a crap hand to play with and he has made the team look better without actually delivering better results. I understand why people have serious doubts about him (particularly over the Ayew/BDCR thing), but I think it’s far too early to conclude that he’s a terrible manager who will plunge us into obscurity. I suspect the club sees it this way too and will give him the summer transfer window to start the rebuild – if of course he wants to stay.

This is a results business and I doubt RVN will get another win for the rest of the season and maybe the odd draw.

He is not a Premiership Manager or is there any evidence he should be a manager and has absolutely no experience.

A different appt after Cooper would have given us a chance of 4th from bottom but this clown is well out of his league and we are now relegated and will never return to the Premiership for years to come.

It’s all downhill now I’m afraid

Cooper had the team at it's freshest early season and lets be honest we were very lucky in most of those early games.  He also had NDiddi then before his injuryand Mads before his.

I'm not saying Ruud is the answer but Ruud has had to operate without both as well as not knowing the players he had to pick from. Ward in his first game a shining example.

You can actuly see structure and paterns of play in Ruuds teams. No he's not Enzo but given time and a chance to bring in his own signings I think he can do a job here.

Many Fans wanted Enzo out early doors and look were he has Chelsea in half a season.

Our current problems are more to do with the quality of the squad and that's down to Rudkin, Glover and Cooper and Rogers. Not Ruud.

When he get's to sign a couple of his own players then we'll see how good he can be. But at least he had the players putting in a real effort last Saturday.

If he can keep that level of committment from them we're bound to win some more games despite the failings within the squad.

    Disagree

RVN will achieve nothing at this club and his record is truly appalling.

In any other situation he would be dismissed by now.

He has zero experience as a manager and would be lucky to be managing a League 2 side.

If he remains after relegation we will plummet down the championship into obscurity.

Crap premier league manager then, he's a championship manager

Cooper would probably have done better than RVN has since he took over.

Renember he had us scoring goals even though he seemed clueless.

The annoying thing is that the right manager may have had a chance of keeping us up as we are still only 2 pts adrift but with RVN we are doomed and he is of 2nd Division standard management at best
