Elliott Anderson is an absolute menace, his pressing ability is extraordinary.

Won't get carried away yet as we need to get the defence right, I think Guehi needs to start but then losing Stones experience is not an easy decision.

If Tuchel has somehow altered our default trait of fear then we could be one hell of a prospect.

Agree. There’s just no way we’d have played like we did last night under Southgate, especially given it was the first game of the group against arguably the best team we’ll play in the group.

    Great to see.

Mind bendingly hard this was, first 30km was straight forward. Then my left calf/knee which I was worried about flared up and it was a war of attrition there after. A few rest breaks made it even harder to get going again each time but I just had to get it done.

The route itself was sensational, will live long in the memory which is fitting for the cause of me doing it. 💙

And I’m sat here dreading the half marathon Runna has me doing tomorrow lol

    Great effort :appl:

    So how did it go?

Was alright actually. The house was about 25c inside, which felt notably cooler than outside. The problem was having the doors open all day with the moving of things that let the warm air in.

My brother has been helping his son and daughter in law move out of their flat and into his gaff.

Got a van and did it all themselves, of all the days to pick

I’m moving tomorrow and the house I’m moving into has been locked for the past few weeks :sweating:

The forecast puts it between 20 and 50% for the Leicester area right now.

That's not as much as places like the Southern US and Asia (which often get 60-90% in summer with high temperatures too) but it is higher than a lot of Mediterranean nations as a rule, which is where we tend to mostly associate experience with 30+ degrees C temperatures.

UK folks (and infrastructure) aren't really used to the combination of temperatures like this and the higher comparative level of humidity with it.

I sat near a red brick wall yesterday and it felt like sitting next to a radiator so I guess our buildings being built of red bricks doesn’t help too.

Think that has something to do with the humidity, most places Brits go on holiday for sun tend to have a drier heat.

Also mentality - when you're abroad, you're normally on holiday so all you have to do is enjoy things, while when you're here you're having to do stuff (or think of doing stuff) in spite of the heat.

According to the Metoffice, the relative humidity in my town is 20% right now. That’s low / dry isn’t it?

Mine was pretty much like “all the best buddy, enjoy yourself” then a few days after was plus 7 which is also the best it’s ever been. So weird.

Do you use a HR strap? I think the performance thing on Garmin uses HR readings and HRV. I’ve found HR readings during runs are garbage from the watch itself. I’ve done intervals in which my heart rate has gone up and down too fast for the watch to even register it.

I don’t pay that much attention to the Garmin data, although it’s definitely lead to me significantly cutting down on booze because my sleep score is horrific every time.

The one thing that did make me laugh though, was a KM into my ultra. Obviously Garmin flashes up with how ready you are for the run a KM in and sometimes it’s fair and I panic a bit, and others I laugh and ignore it… this literally gave me the worst readiness score I’ve ever had as I’ve got another 51km to run.

Same. If I wake up and feel like shit, I’ll look at the sleep / stress data to confirm.

Booze is a big one like you say, absolutely tanks all the scores.

  9. Felt a bit ropey yesterday evening but had a 6 mile easy run planned. Gave it a go but had to stop on 5 miles as it felt way harder than it should’ve done, although wasn’t sure if it was the warm weather doing it.

Felt grim and uncomfortable all night and woke up to this, which probably doesn’t mean much to non Garmin users but it’s not good -

Few days off needed I think.

Pretty sure Ben Marshall was the terrible culture!

I’m not cherry picking moments out like you have. That situation wasn’t Pearson’s best moment of course.

I am talking overall, the health of the club. The stuff behind the scenes, sports science, scouting, players playing for the shirt. You’ll always be able to pick out one or two like you have but Wes Morgan? James? Drinkwater? Vardy? Huth? Kante and Fuchs were Pearson/Walsh signings.

The club was in such good health then. My point was how everything has deteriorated since they left.

To add to this, when we’d go a goal down it didn’t really matter as we knew we’d come back and have a go. Going a goal down didn’t mean the crowd would turn like they have the past few seasons, which I’ll add has been merited.

Over the past 10 years I’ve definitely seen more Leicester shirts on my travels.

I wonder if that will drop off now

It will and already has I’ve found. Living behind enemy lines, I’d often see Leicester shirts until the last year or so.

It’s all Coventry round here now, which makes me smile as their “boycott” must have included not wearing their shirts as well as not going to games.

I've never bought into Gait analysis, that's for sure. Modern science and thinking says its a load of shit for starters, especially done by shoe shops rather than professionals (though I would trust the team at Leicester Running Shop). A better thing would be running style analysis, but doesn't exist in the truest sense of the word.

Correcting 'style' and form is also proving to be mainly a bad idea. You run how you run, changing it often leads to issues elsewhere.

Running shoes basically try them, make sure they are comfortable, see if they are right for you in terms of whether you run with a heel strike, mid-foot strike or forefoot-strike.

    Just my opinion though.

I don’t think I had gait analysis myself. A lad at a sports shop in Warwick did a few checks and figured out I have over pronation and got me to try a few pairs on.

Is gait analysis paid for and quite extensive?

I agree with the try them and feel. The shop I went to encouraged trying them on a treadmill for the first few runs as if they’re not suitable they’re happy to replace them for another pair. I feel as though I’ve found my shoe though and I’m now too scared to change lol

    Yeah, good point.

It's not something I've ever considered to be honest...been running daily for nearly 15 years and I have no idea what my 'style' is. Never bothered with a gait analysis or anything like that, but it's definitely something I'd consider if I was picking up a lot of injuries.

If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it - absolutely!
