Well, I’m off to burn my eyes out.

Minister without portfolio, officially.

Andrea Jenkins submits a letter of no confidence, stating that it’s their last chance to stop Keir Starmer’s socialist cabal. Living in a fantasy world. They genuinely think they still have a “silent majority” behind them.

I consider myself a staunch defender of the BBC, and I feel this time is no different: There’s nothing wrong with that article. It’s not an opinion piece, nor should it be - just information about who, basically, Braverman is and her route to getting where she did. Particularly when you can find this article right next to it, which demonstrates the controversies: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67374951

They’d be on the side of the Nazis; they think they’re under attack from Islam. *I mean, they always think they’re under attack from someone. It’s why they’ve hated the Jews and the Communists for decades. But right now it’s Islam.

The people at the top are psychopaths and manipulators, but you’re right in that the rank and file are driven by fear, because that’s how they’ve been recruited.

No, I see zero chance of this. But conquering and displacing all Palestinians from it is another matter.

I doubt it, but it’s pretty evident that they only intend to rescue any hostages themselves - if at all possible - rather than make deals for them. The only way they’ve suggested considering a deal is if all hostages are returned, ie. they won’t allow Hamas time to reorganise and let them keep hostages, even if they get some others back. Otherwise it would suggest that Hamas know how to grab Israel by the balls and they’d just take more in the future.

If she’s aiming to become Conservative leader - or even PM, God forbid - then I think she’s making too many enemies, both within the party and in the general populace. She shouldn’t be able to win an election with just a bunch of core fanatics. Frankly, I think she’s behaving the way she is not out of some great strategic masterplan but because this is her nature.

This may be one of my favourite ever Dingbats.

It’s crazy to say it, but we have a Home Secretary who is literally trying to incite riots on our streets so that she can present herself as the saviour.

I thought Mrs. Brown’s Boys had a certain charm at first, being like a cross between a sitcom and a local improv group. The early scripts were old-fashioned and non-PC but had a certain heart to them. Whenever I’ve seen more recent episodes, they look rushed, not thought-out, with too many in-jokes and any heart turned into cloying saccharine. I also had the misfortune to see the movie, where he genuinely plays a second character in addition to Mrs. Brown: An East Asian martial arts master. If you think this sounds horribly racist and inappropriate then you’d be absolutely right.

I was wondering whether it was Too Clever By Half but I couldn’t make it fit.

I have 1-2-1s where I work; they’re very different from appraisals. They’re more to make sure you have regular interaction with your line manager so that you can raise issues and to make sure nothing in a half-yearly appraisal comes as a surprise. Of course, it depends on the manager’s ability as to how useful they are.

To be honest, I don’t understand this. You mention experts - the first page you find on Google when searching for opinions on AI and its potential threat to jobs is filled with experts and commentators basically saying what worth_the_wait is saying. And that’s before we get into the massive problems AI is going to hit with plagiarism and copyright law.

I think there’s a lot of truth in it myself. You won’t find it in the opinion polls because it’s not something people will offer as the reason they voted that way - after all, that would sound as petty as it is and is pretty much an immediate argument-loser for anyone who isn’t trolling deliberately. But I do think it’s perhaps the key motivator for people to seek out opposing arguments and back them instead. One sides mocks you, the other side reaches out their hand to you and says they’re on your side. It’s no surprise that people want to believe the side that’s - on the surface at least - offering them friendship. And believing is more than half the battle.

But, as men, do we not have a solemn duty to compare them?

Biden’s corpse held up by puppet strings with Kamala Harris doing a poor impression of an Irish accent >>> Trump.

Biden. It’s not even a contest. I don’t care if he spends all day running around the White House garden naked, he’s not Trump.

Jesus looks like he’s lining him up.

I’d guess one and a half pints.

This feels like a con of a con! The key phrase to me in that article is “backed by the British pound”, which is the whole thing Crypto was set up to avoid in the first place. It’s like trying to get people into Crypto while actually linking it to a nation state currency, and trying to control of an anarchic market. Personally I hope they’re able to take that control rather than getting nation state currencies dragged into the abyss. Although another possibility is that they’re found to be incompatible. Still, I’m sure Rishi Sunak wouldn’t waste money like that…

I agree completely.

I do love a good BT service call to Mumbai.
