I think they probably a bit of the opposites of each other Chaplin is an attacking mid/support striker who can be a centre forward if needed Cullen is a centre forward who can be an attacking mid/support striker if needed - and is probably the kind of striker who drops deep and roams around a bit to get involved the play which I imagine is what Russell likes about him Chaplin: Cullen:

You would probably expect someone who is average in the Championship to then be pretty good in League One which is what we definitely need upfront But if we are spending I would prefer if it was on someone younger However the strikers we would like that are proven in league one like Ballard, Wareham etc. will probably cost more than Cullen tbh

Still has 2 years left on his contract so he wouldn't exactly be a proper cheap signing But Russell will obviously know everything about him so should make it a lot easier for him to just slot straight in, and will probably know most of what is going to be asked of him

Was wondering whether to give this a go but with my current list of games to play over the next few months I will probably just give it a skip, not really seen any reviews to make it worth picking up

Probably a lot easier when you effectively just have a bunch of kids taking up barely any wages, new owners and no financial issues (They do have some EFL financial restrictions but as with the Louie Barry it clearly isn’t that restrictive)

Tbf you would effectively end up with wingers from Alves and Chaplin Chaplin although he “plays” in the middle pretty much mostly drifts out wide right anyway Alves in his career so far has been left wing (moving inside) or as a 10

Might actually be a good thing with him and possibly follows on from when he was so set on his tactics previously Has possibly realised he can’t do that anymore

Braybrooke is out of contract next summer Alves is 2028 I imagine most of the others like Aluko and Joseph are similar as well - actually would still be on their first pro deals

Wouldn't necessarily mind him as back up as I am not sure whether he will come in and be the 20-ish goals a season striker we would probably need to be leading the line every week That is even if he is properly over his injury issues after his ACL

Full time and a good 3-3 draw More comfortable in the first half as arguably I would say our stronger side played against a weaker Malaga side Malaga's better players were brought on and came out out strong at the start of the 2nd half to go 2-1 up but once we started making changes we got back into the game and it was much more competitive No doubt Russell Martin and the players will have learnt plenty from that game A very good pre-season friendly for the team against opposition who will be better quality than anything we will face in League One
