Leeds vs LCFC - 07/11/2021 - Match Thread
beepee1984 replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
See we do know that we are meant to score goals We just need to concede 1st to remember Now we will just go back to sleep until they score again -
But 77% Possession and 41% of the game played in their defensive third. (And worryingly our defence is worse than our attacking)
-
We did completely control the game, we controlled it at a very slow pace. Why did we never try to increase the tempo instead controlled it right into the draw without looking like we were interested in more. The team lacked creativity, the midfield looked short of ideas, the wing backs played higher up the field than they are used to, put immediately looked for their CB to pass back to. Soumare hitting the post was a great strike a bit like Tielemans 2 recently, but we cannot continue to rely on long range efforts or getting penalties. We could have won today with the penalty and/or bit more luck, but overall we continually do not create enough real chances for the amount of possession we have.

This! People go on about formation, but so far this season it hasn't mattered who has been on the pitch or what shape we play. We consistently go out there with no passion, no urgency and only become interested after conceding or nearly conceding
-
Does Rodgers get Leicester to spend all training passing and playing keep ball, because honestly when the players arrive on matchday it looks like they forget they need to score goals until they concede first
-
Quick Review of the game First Half Leicester have all the ball approximately 125% Possession, other than 1 long range shot do absolutely nothing with it Second Half Concede goal, suddenly realise that we need to score and play well (being kind here) for maybe 10 minutes, get equaliser and 1 other headed attempt on target. Win Penalty, Vardy who has barely warmed up takes it and misses and we go back to having the ball without showing any urgency and rarely any intent to score. Overall – We looked like a team who were waiting to win rather than actually going out and getting the win.

We have absolutely no idea how to attack -
After a slow start, I think we have to aim for 60 points this season which should be top half. Love another FA cup if we can.. Next Season we have to be aiming for Top 6 again.

We have to play a strong side, we need to build momentum. I think we need to play our strongest team. -
I'm not ready to say Amartey needs to start. Our top 3 CBs are Evans, Fofana, Soyuncu, but he is next in line and I no longer dread when His name is in the starting line up. Also 4 wins from 6 games with him starting, 0 from 5 without him (Although, I expect that stat is more useful to read as 4 wins from 5 when neither Bertrand or Vestergaard start and 0 from 6 when we have rely on last seasons 2nd worse defence)
-
I've always voted Stay on BR, but was just starting to question whether a change would be needed this season as we started the season so out of form. But was I've been impressed with BR especially in the past 2 games is his recognition that we have not been good enough. He is trying different things and he deserved the 3 points yesterday for the changes he made
-
I said a while back that Daka should be used more often. No I don't mean starting games ahead of Vardy and Iheanacho, but he is an impact player, bring him on against tired defenders like yesterday and he will cause havoc
-
I'm not sure we came up against the best Man U side, but they hadn't lost in 29 games we have to give our team credit. We played better and I think we have to look at the defence and see who wasn't playing. Castagne was brought in as a replacement for Chilwell, but due to Pereiras injury he has player mainly on the right and appeared to be battling Ricardo for a game. We should be playing both. Tielemans controlled the midfield, Maddison showed signs of improvement, was sharp and was a massive plus BR had suggested he needs to find a way of playing 2 up front so both Iheanacho and Vardy can start, he is trying things to improve our form and this match showed we are looking forward and upwards again
-
I read a Rodgers interview at the beginning of the international break where he stated Iheanacho is a centre forward, not a wide player, not a number 10. His form means he deserves to play so BR has to find a way to play 2 up front. I don't think we have the players for 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, we lack the attacking wide players
-
Won 3 games this season with Amartey compared to 0 with Vestergaard.
-
Southampton had the 2nd worse defence in the Premier League last season. What do we do? Buy half their back four
-
10 games in and I still think we haven't deserved a win once. I will give him credit for trying a different approach today, but it clearly didn't work. Defensively we are very poor, they are poor with the ball at their feet, they are poor when the opposition have the ball and awful at dealing with crosses or Set-Pieces. If we can't hold on to a 2-0 lead against palace then we are going to struggle. Yes we will be better with Evans, Fofana and Justin in the team, but these are all long term issues that should have been rectified - bringing in half the back four of last seasons 2nd worst defence clearly didn't work. (Worth pointing out all 3 wins have been when we played Amartey and Thomas) The same players look like they are not interested. I think Rodgers had picked his subs before the match started, taking off the players that played with any credit, I hear Choudhury had to come off as he wasn't match fit, do we not have a Under 23s team where players can maintain match fitness Vardy and Iheanacho continue to be plus points

Evans likely to miss out so we have to pick 2 out of Soyuncu, Amartey, Benkovic and Vestegaard. I would honestly pick Amartey over Vestegaard (never thought I would say that), but I also don't know how bad Benkovic has to be for him not to be involved this season with the form of the CBs Bertrand has not done enough this season and Thomas is still inexperienced and gets no help from Barnes makes me believe Pereira and Castagne should be our full back options Ndidi out, Mendy clearly not in Rodgers plans means Choudhury is our only DM, I think he has to start, but BR will play someone out of position. EDIT - Just seen Mendy played 60 minutes for the Under 23s so fingers crossed he can start We need to start Albrighton, not always the greatest player, but is very stable and doesn't let the team down. His experienced and measured approach is what we need at the moment. Schmeichel Pereira Soyuncu Amartey Castagne Choudhury (DM) - EDIT Mendy Tielemans Albrighton Maddison Barnes/Lookman Vardy Scarily, I am thinking about our options and we don't appear to have any and on current form whatever side we put out I expect us to struggle -
I don't agree with just boot the ball forward, But I definitely agree with number 1, keep Vardy forward and it at least gives us an option to counter. Then again first we need to be able to defend set-pieces.
-
I think the difference is that The Fofana signing was planned. Had Fofana not broke his leg and Evans didn't have his foot injury, we would not even have signed Vestergaard
-
There is only 1 question that really bothers me Does he have the support of the dressing room? Every player (Bar Vardy) is under-performing and many don't look like they want to be on the pitch. I want Rodgers to stay, but we need to see some kind of response to this run of form
