And so we arrive at the terrible conundrum that such action might be both exactly what the MAGAs want and play to all of their strengths...and also the only way to stop them because if it isn't done they use a pretext to do the same thing anyway, because it's been the objective all along.

    We live in interesting times.

“Interesting” is one possible description. “Utter w4nk” is another.

  2. Anyone interested in the JFK assassination should read “I Heard You Paint Houses”, the book that the film The Irishman is based on. The usual critical thinking is required, it is just a man’s story after all, but it definitely provides “makes you think” moments.

  3. I sold a guitar on Facebook once. Was back and forth with the guy and agreed a price a fair bit lower than what I listed at. He then drove over from West Brom with £ 10 less than that agreed price, and got the arse when I wouldn’t accept this new, un-agreed price on principle. He rang his missus who supposedly transferred the extra tenner to my account (she hadn’t). Took about an hour to get him out my house, and then he was messaging and ringing for weeks after saying he would pay the extra tenner if I drove the guitar over to him.

    Never again….

I was a bit hasty but ultimately when you have the sky news defence editor within an hour calling it sabotage followed by the Estonian foreign minister then you know things are getting dicey.

A British citizen was killed by Russian state sanctioned violence at the World Cup. This is nothing new.

  5. Unfortunately, a lot of people are just flat out stupid and therefore easily manipulated. On top of that, technology has made it very easy to manipulate the easily manipulated en masse.

Do you have to have seen the previous 16 to understand what was going on?

I remember seeing Stephen Fry presenting an award for Zero Dark  Thirty and he started with something like “having not seen any of the previous 29 films in the Zero Dark franchise…”

Starmer still deathly quiet. Seems a bit like he’s on the same team as Orban while the rest of the European leaders rally round Zelensky. There’s going to come a point where he has to try and stop “both sidesing” this and actually talk out against Trump and America. I’m sure deep down Starmer knows this, but I wonder what the point actually is.

Thought I’d just seen one the news a statement had been made about unwavering support for Ukraine?

Snapping spaghetti makes sense in every possible way

Agreed. I always break it in half. Easier to combine with the sauce, easier to eat, easier to cook without a specific spaghetti pan. People who don’t break spaghetti are losers.

This morning after painting the bowl in the London office I heard a yank refer to annual leave / holiday as "a disconnect"

Sorry but that's it for me, ban Americans

I imagine banning Americans would be a stretch goal.
