Great result and excellent first half performance. You could be critical that we dropped off in the second half, but basically it was last week in reverse. We have had enough games where we have started well but not driven our dominance home and dropped points (Portsmouth and Wrexham for example) and then games like last week when we had lost before we decided to play.  Given we had the view last week that it was too little too late, surely the same principle applies to Derby today?

Derby were poor anyway. We were only worried because it is Leicester and we know we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I’d have felt that against any side. It was nothing to do with Derby. I’m not sure they really troubled us.

Skipp had a very good game. It has to be him and James together. Winks get out in Jan and Soumare if we can. BDR (actually carries a threat), Page and Ramsey when fit at 10.

Nelson doing what those of us who backed him knew he would, despite the geniuses on here banging on about 45 minutes against Huddersfield 3 months later! I’m pleased he can play with Vestergaard rather than being seen as an alternative to.

Thomas looked much more solid as well. He has also seemed better in the games Nelson has played.

    Fitness and injuries pending, probably the best line up currently;

                          Stolarcryk

    Ricardo - Nelson - Vestergaard - Thomas

                     James - Skipp

               Fatawu - BDR - Mavididi

                              Daka

    Begovic

    Aluko

    Page

    Monga

    Ayew

    Choudhury

    Evans

    + 2 others

I’d like to see Souttar given a chance but it does seem like Nelson drags Vestergaard’s level up so if they are the partnership, I can live with it for now. We still need a new LB as Thomas can’t seem to sustain the level he showed today enough.

Centre mid is good and the 3 ahead but I would have Ramsey over BDR if fit and use BDR as an impact sub.

I mean despite the fact we won with Ayew today and his ruled out goal was wrongly so, I still think of the strikers we currently have, we tend to look better as a team with Daka. But it’d be the fist position to improve on along with left back.

Actually thought we looked more of a threat today when ayew was on the pitch.

I do wonder if our FA Cup win is indirectly (directly?) responsible for current woes?

If Rodgers hadn't delivered that win, the board might, just might, have finally got rid a little sooner. Even a month or two earlier might have seen us stay up.

Surely things would have panned out differently in that case?

Hypothetical I know and, frankly, the cup win was something older fans especially, have always dreamed of. But would I now swap it for being a comfortable Premier league side still........probably.

I don't think that would've made any difference to our current situation, the problem is the hierarchy and their complete incompetence. Nothing will change until we have new owners in my opinion

I don’t understand this man at all. I cannot fathom how he looks at the squad and thinks he’s playing our best XI in a setup that allows them to succeed.

I don’t understand this club at all. I cannot understand why our top three choices at CB don’t care about defending.

Or probably our best creative player (SM) isn't a starter. He took the piss when he came on

As the season develops I won’t be surprised if we evolve into a back 3 to benefit from Coady’s experience and Jannick’s ability to launch attacks. Faes might get his move in the summer but I highly doubt it’s to a level above where we are. The constant arm flapping/complaining etc. is a real let down.

Some good parts of his game, no doubt. Liability elsewhere.

Unfortunately his major liability is defending

How do you know it's not?

Doesn't have to be announced immediately, plus there's still time.

Deadline day goes down to the wire. Everyone's phones are on over drive..

Except Rudkins of course, he's still sat by the fax machine.

Tbf, fast forward 6 months and I'll probably be defending Broja's 0.68 goal contributions per lot of 90 minutes when everyone's calling him shit because he's being horrendously mismanaged.

    He certainly is at chelsea

Broja may turn out to be a decent striker. But given that he has yet to prove himself anywhere, what have you seen that makes you so confident in him?

My cousin is sth at Southampton and reckons he was their best player the season he was there. Also scored a lot of goals on loan at vitesse. Watch some of his highlights and compare them to other one season wonders many on here are raving about

I suppose, unless you watched Cannon extensively on his previous loan, it's hard to say. He's barely kicked a ball for us, so all we have to go on is that successive managers haven't appeared to rate him highly. I think he's one of those where his absence has led to people mixing up their curiosity with the hope that he's what we're missing (if that makes sense). Mind you, I haven't seen enough of Broja to be sure that he's an upgrade either. I doubt there are all that many on here who have studied either of them at length, let alone both.

Cannon is not/will never be in the same class as Broja. Think we must be talking about a different Broja or a different Cannon!!!!

If he remained fit he would be a great loan with option to buy.

I mean, I'd start a fit Daka over Broja every day of the week and I'm not joking or doing a 'bit' here.

He's just a more dangerous forward. Broja might be a bit cleaner in possession but he's not a better striker.

I'd start a fit broja over a fit daka every time

No but through no fault of his own he is here. Is 180 mins of football in anger a fair chance.

Not saying you but the personal insults are way out of order.

    Absolutely agree

Different setup, on another day, Spurs put 4 past us in that game.

Maresca would have bored many to tears this season but I’d like to think we’d have had more than 29%.

We won the premiership with very little  possession during the course of the season. Fuching about with the ball at the back like we did last season we'd get destroyed by premiership forwards

The issue is that we’ve gone away from the philosophy that Maresca built.

I was maybe in the minority that didn’t want Maresca to go as I didn’t mind his pragmatic football.

His non starting use of Ricardo and Mavididi is criminal.

Dread to think what the score would've been against spurs if we played the maresca way. We definitely wouldn't have got a point.

I’m in Cornwall and would take one in the Plymouth end if its still going.  Doesn’t look like i’ll get one on the away end.

There's still tickets available on Argyles website. I'm living near Saltash now and go regularly to Home Park for my live footy fix so I'm well pissed off that I can't get one in the away end. Thought with it being on a Friday night I might have a chance. I did, NO FUCHING CHANCE 😄COYB🦊

  14. Slim chance I know, but I'm desperate for two tickets for the Argyle game as I live down this way now, and don't get back to Leicester too often. One ticket would do.🙏. I've been offered one in the Plymouth end but don't fancy that😄

Another one who can’t see past their prejudice of a player. YES he has been one of our best players

He certainly was today and I've been one of his biggest critics, but credit where credits due.  One of several players who suffered during the tenure of the poison dwarf.

Not really sure what you're on about. We saw it wasn't working and changed it by going longer more than in any other game this season.

And all that's meant by 'process' is getting used to taking the ball under pressure and knowing when and who to put somebody under that pressure.

    Chill out.

I could even hear Enzo telling hermandsen to send it long on at least two occasions
