As far as the yanks and the atmosphere. I have a little skin in the game when it comes to that.
The americans are always loud, you could have a tiddlywinks world cup and they turn up and be noisy.
Even in 94 when they never had a Pro league they did just that. Of course now that soccer is much more popular and the leagues successful its going help.
The difference with the rest of the world is americans like to make noise and chant but not sing...it does happen in the MLS but tends to be club specific that hasn't travelled (yet) to the national side.
You also have the club versus country aspect, you'll see high numbers of hispanic/latino's at MLS games who might not necessarily support the national side over their families lineage.
And yes there will be plenty of Americans that believe they will win the WC, but my guess is these won't be necessarily 'soccer fans' more just supporting their national side as they would for all sports. There's also a difference between americans and most nations, their confidence. Some would say arrogance but not in my experiance its a mixture of positivity, confidence and enthusiasm, and a distant lack of what's ripe in the UK...cynicism.

All fans are popular at tournaments on foreign soil including, unbelievably, England. It's just the English media have a love in duty towards other British nations for fear of being accused of xenophobia. Mel Gibson's fault. Freedom!
Yeah I love the fact scottish fans are so well liked and they have such a great time, but the endless stories about them when as you rightly say all nations fans have been popular, irks a little.

Scotland should still be ok as long as they dont get tonked by brazil.

It's a great sight in the sunshine but games in London are just fans enjoying a day at the cricket. Result is not that important.
Bit like our fans on a matchday.

It’s frightening that people like this are allowed behind the wheel of a car.
Its the sort of brainwashing thats taken place all around the english football leagues.

Impressive going forward, our defence though.

This will become prevalent now after the burnley ruling. EPL really has become a total mess and completely uninteresting when money and courts and not the football are what make the headlines. Quickly falling out of love with english football.

That makes me feel old. And yet....the memory of buying it is still very tangible, the whole experience in fact, going to the record shop, bring it home and not opening it until I got home. There is something special about gatefold albums and examining every inch of the cover design. Very different to now and having things selected for you on spotify.
I was talking to someone about this the other day. I couldn't afford to buy records but my local library would have some and every now and again a load more would turn up. I still remember that feeling of seeing a new album from an artist you loved and rushing home to play it....back when there was no internet i had no idea of the discography of an artist, so just seeing one you'd never seen before whether it was a new release or an older one was really an amazing moment.

What do you want him to say?
Anything else rather than the robotic answers most give, but its not just what he says its the way they say it its like every bit of their personality has been removed, maybe its the media training, but it just so dull. But hey...I couldn't really care less as long he starts winning matches and playing attractive football...we can hope.

Whilst I agree - all this monotone bullsh*t that comes at new manager press conferences....what are you expecting him to say otherwise?

This is the first proper game I've watched live and they're so blatantly just there for more adverts. Absolute joke.
Even BBC ran an article trashing them.
Keep the yanks out of football
another decade and they'll be running it.

Spain will probably still win the whole thing.

Just seen the welsh totally bottle it in the quarters, probably mean england will win it now.

Tired of these hydration breaks already, just because the Americans can’t go beyond 25 minutes without a fast food advert stateside isn’t an excuse to stop a game.
At least if we hosted we wouldn't need them...maybe a hot chocolate or hot bovril break.

Watched the USA highlights… is it just me or was the atmosphere significantly better than the Mexico game?
Yanks are always good...this myth perpetuates about american and 'soccer' but believe me they care and are noisy.

Its crazy to think they never won a single game in qualyfying, finished bottom, but still find themselves in the world cup.
