  1. I know this will get hate but I think as much as the decision making has been poor and the fact we have gone from being a top 6 club to being relegated twice nearly, but for what the King Power have done for this club completely obliterates the negatives. Yes, We have an owner who is being incompetent through lack of business experience which has resulted in being too loyal to Rudkin and others by not sacking them. But this isn’t a case of him not loving the club still like some owners of other clubs have done. I take the view put pressure on him to make the hard decisions but don’t completely through him and the family business into the mud by displaying this banner. As well as someone else pointed out it being the same airspace his dads helicopter situation happened, it just makes us as a fanbase look a bit of joke to be honest. This is from someone who has not enjoyed the football style since 2017 and thought the countless managers we have employed haven’t embodied the football this club has built success on with Ranieri and Pearson and even to the O’Neill days.
  2. Of course you can look at ticket pricing, cost of living, relegation etc but every other fanbase would have to deal with this. So why are we any different? I think there’s two huge factors that have knocked the atmosphere/passion out of the fan base. Firstly winning the league. it’s never ever getting better than that. What ever happens from here on, is secondary to what we have achieved. It’s like we’ve been in a hangover since 2016. Secondly is, we have played a brand of football that no matter what the football connoisseurs try and have u believe, it’s pure boring dross (Side to side, passing, back to the defenders constantly). Tactics that kill freedom of expression. I’m not just talking about highly creative players. Look at the likes of Paul Gallagher hitting shots from 30 yards, Steve Howard roughing up a defence, hitting the ball long to the likes of Jamie Vardy of old to run on to etc. The game should be more than just possession. I think If the club finds it’s identity in the way we play again (playing direct football and hard to beat like we did pre 2017) it would be a start to getting back to better times. Let’s be honest we haven’t played like a real Leicester City side since Craig Shakespeare was in charge.
  3. The culture on the field was down to him and his head of recruitment (who he’d brought with him from Celtic) . Not Rudkin or anyone else behind the scenes. He set the tone. I actually believe the board put all their eggs in one basket with him in terms of backing him in transfer markets, letting him sink our club so far into his final season with us. Everything wrong about the current squad stems from his time at the club yes behind the scenes we have made way too many mistakes with buying and selling players etc but in my opinion, if we had at least a decent manager and not a career manager, we would of stayed up. That Scottish league has worked wonders for truly average coaches at best (Rodgers, Gerrard, Neil Lennon etc)
  4. This! We can look at the board’s decision making behind the scenes all we want (and rightly so). But Rodgers impact was hugely negative. That FA cup win was the biggest plaster over a complete failure as a manager for us in the league. like what’s said above, he inherited a top squad. And make no mistake he was employed to get us top 4! We were on the brink of this despite Puel being a rubbish manager. Rodgers FAILED twice and then blamed the squad. The teams around us, trying to get that fourth position were all shockingly bad as well. This wasn’t entitlement, it was what should of happened under a decent manager. I started to doubt him as a manager around the same time as our FA Cup win. Our defence was getting worst and worst each year, the refusal to stop passing out from the back, when we were under pressure. And what everyone over looks… Vardy was a far better player before Rodgers came in. You can pull up all the stats you want, no matter what numbers you produce because on paper they were good numbers. He would have got twice as much if our owners had employed a counter attacking manager at the time. This was Vardy with unbelievable pace if you remember. The worst decision we made under his time as manager was employing his man from Celtic as our head of recruitment. That single handily impacted this club for years to come. This was the moment that started to change the mentality of the overall squad. Look at the players since then. Lots of talent in some cases but a poor mentality! I think the problems we have now are because the squad now still has that same mentality that Rodgers installed all those years ago, from his direct influence as a coach or the players he brought in at the time (Quitters, blame game, lack of focus and character etc). Biggest conman in football all hidden by amazing PR
  5. Atmosphere wise, nothing will compare to the 2016 season but to say we only had a handful of games that it was rocking is just not true. I could point to the obvious seasons when we had successful campaigns like winning league 1 or getting promotion from the championship but even seasons that didn’t materialise at the end of them, had an all round better atmosphere at the King Power. The Sven era or the seasons with Pearson where we didn’t get promotion. Agree with your point about there being a feeling of us never getting to those heights again after winning the league. I do think that was factor, because even I began not being as bothered when we lost games as I would have before 2016. But I think now it’s been a couple of years since that season, the hunger is back for seeing our club do the very best it can.
  6. Great PR for the club if they get Potter to be fair. The media love him. Apart from that, dreading his appointment. Would go far as saying, I’d even prefer the likes of Warnock and Big Sam. He’ll appease the football connoisseurs on here but mark my words, this man is Puel with an English accent. It’ll be side to side, slow ‘progressive’ football. The 5 minute highlight reels might look great but for us fans in the stadium, who have to watch the full game, it’ll be a soulless watch.
  7. We did exist before 2016 you know… 2017 was a hangover season from winning the league. So it was expected (Apart from the champions league nights) the atmosphere fell off a little. But the real turning point was appointment of Puel. Since then it has massively declined. To the point of even when we have been winning matches and getting promotion. It hasn’t been nearly half as enjoyable as it should be. We’ve had seasons in the championship, where we haven’t got promotion at the end, that have been far more enjoyable and exciting to watch
  8. You're talking codswallop son! Old Burnley and Old Bolton would have a field day against current Fulham and Brighton. Wouldn’t even be close. Real Madrid have just won the champions league having less possession and playing very direct…. West Ham have got into Europe in recent times and won a trophy playing that style… Everton would have finished mid table without the points deduction. Despite having no half decent striker most of season…
  9. Only have to look at the atmosphere at the king power for the past couple years and realise it’s a result of this style of football. I remember Rodgers trying to claim the fans need to encourage the players more (ie be louder), when not understanding the reason the fans are quiet is because of his sides football is slow and boring.
  10. He’ll be ready after a long hot summer
  11. Dyche. But we’ve missed the boat with him unfortunately
  12. Best comment I’ve seen on here for a while. Completely agree every point you made. It’s football for the prawn sandwich brigade who want a peaceful afternoon out
  13. First one looks like a cross between the Milk Tray man and Captain Birdseye Second one, wouldn’t trust to walk my dog
  14. Yeah, if you can’t win the game, don’t lose it. Someone should have told Rodgers this when we were plummeting down the league.
  15. This! 💯 Also the point about us being poor after Kante left. Well we had just won the league against all odds… the team was always gonna have a dip after that. Seemed to do pretty well in the champions league anyhow. The myth about us just relying on those three players in Mahrez, Vardy and Kante is rubbish. Yes they had key roles but the whole team knew their jobs and played to their max. I remember when Vardy was suspended and Ulloa came in and did brilliant. That’s the type of versatility we miss!
  16. Couldn’t have put it any better myself. It’s more of an imagine thing in my opinion. There seems to be a cluster of bang average managers getting jobs now because they are seen to be playing ‘the right way’. Trends come and go though, so sooner or later they’ll be teams at the top of table who will buck the trend and the rest of the league will follow like they always do. You only have to look the best team in Europe (if you base it on the champions league) at the moment, in Real Madrid. Completely ignored the football snobs and did what was needed to win the game. Love to see it!
  17. Everton - despite their points deduction and not having any decent strikers when DCL is injured the majority of the time, they have managed to become a real tough team to come up against. In my opinion will kick on and get European place the end of this season coming West Ham - Moyes took over a team that was trying to play ‘nice football’ whiles being dragged into relegation and turned it into a solid mid table team that also now has a European trophy Brentford - Thomas Frank adapts to the teams he plays. They’ve been in the prem a number of seasons now despite not having the biggest budget. Even look how they dealt with their best striker in Tony not playing for half the season
  18. Granted, direct football has more variables. In a nutshell, should we carry on playing how we have over recent time or go direct, where if the pass in behind is on we play it or if the defenders/keepers under pressure and there’s no pass on, rather than playing a risky pass, we get rid of it. Not necessarily saying that’s what we do 100 percent of the time but we aren’t construed to all these rules of ‘playing the right way’. Pearson side had the best balance of everything in my opinion. Could play the passing game well at times but if there was a clear advantage of knocking it in behind we played it. Or if the opposition couldn’t handle a big man up top pressuring defences, we’d play the likes of Wood or Ulloa rather than Nugent or Vardy.
  19. What would the fans prefer the team to play moving forward. Stick with Tiki Taka football or play direct football (not necessarily long ball)?
  20. Thomas Frank would be ideal but we’ve got no chance of getting him unfortunately. Cooper wouldn’t be my choice for that reason. But Potter’s sides are never exciting. Even when his Brighton teams had the odd game where they’d score a few. Watching the full 90 minutes, the style of football is tedious and boring. It relies highly on waiting for the opposition to make mistakes. Looks great on a 5 min YouTube highlights, when in reality it’s not enjoyable. Each to their own though
  21. Agreed. Would be more of a risk of going down maybe but to be honest I wanna look forward to going to games again. Potters football is same boring crap we’ve had for the past 7 years. At least Cooper would have a better chance of getting rid of the library atmosphere at the King Power
  22. The fourth spot… obviously not better than Liverpool or Man City. Chelsea had a bang average manager with a transfer embargo. Untied had the milky bar kid as their manager, with a team that blew hot and cold every week for the most part. No balance to their team and McFred in midfield… they were very very lucky to get second place. They were never near a title race. Our team was way more solid and balanced than both those teams at the time. We were in the top four up until the last few weeks. As soon as any bit of pressure came on us, we bottled it both times. The manager talks a good game about character, but we had none it in the crunch times. We embodied Rodgers personality. Which would eventually cost us in his final season with us. The FA cup was a one off. The leagues where you’re judged. It’s your bread and butter!
  23. The clubs set up was slowly being chipped away since Pearson left. We were lucky we still had good recruitment for many years (apart from the 2016 summer). Can’t blame the club for going for it in the market and on wages when the top four was in reaching distance. In my opinion the notion we were successful in the league under Rodgers, is complete rubbish. That was the time the top four (fourth position) was at its weakest and we bottled it twice. Club would have gone on strength to strength had we secured a finish in there
  24. Same people who don’t want Moyes in, didn’t want Dyche, when we were in free fall under the Rodgers. Clueless! We shouldn’t make same mistake again. There’s a manager out of work who’s perfectly suited to keeping us up and dare I say it, establish us as a mid table team eventually just like he did with West Ham. All the other names mentioned haven’t got anywhere near the experience and know how he has. He also managed to change a lot of the set up behind the scenes at West Ham, which would definitely be something we need right now. + £10m for Enzo Experienced manager in Moyes at the helm And with full pre season. I’d be way more confident going into the new season, than I ever was under Maresca
  25. Had a few wallops about my comments regarding the scotch egg. I may have spoken out of term and for that my sincerest apologies to those offended and the scotch eggs around the world. I retract my statement in that regard. I still stand by the rest of my views on Potter though. And 1999 football can still win games in the modern game. Just needs a strong manager to buck the trend and implement it effectively
