I don't understand why some fans think Enzo Maresca would have continued to use exactly the same tactic in the Premier League as he did in the the Championship. That argument doesn't make any logical sense.
to be fair he probably would have, but there was always a school of thought that teams would come at us more in the PL and not sit back, like some teams did which caused us problems at times. something we'll never know now

Sometimes, you just have to laugh.
And here we have some bloke being slaughtered because in our first 4 Premier League games we've gone 1-1, 1-2, 1-2, 2-2, against teams that finished last season 5th, 13th, 4th and 10th respectively.
take Villa out of that and 3 of the teams have won 2 games between them in 12 matches. and looking at where they finished last season is also fairly pointless, as we proved in our relegation season after finishing 8th the season before

I find this tough to believe when we have given all our last 3 managers (including Cooper) more control than 90% of other clubs in the Championship/PL allow their managers. Plus, he worked at Chelsea and Brighton - two clubs where managers have little control over anything off of the pitch.
that was the general talk at the time and i've heard whispers since potter wanted to bring his own director of football in. no doubt some on here will know the truth but won't dare put their heads up above the parapet

Thats what I read as well
where did you read that, as it's the first time i've heard of it. the 2 things going round was what i said about Potter wanting more control, and they're was something in Potter's pay off from Chelsea that was an issue. no idea what's true though

I think we could. When we were linked with him our squad hadn’t been strengthened hugely. Now we have demonstrated we have potential to stay clear of relegation dogfight imo - but with Cooper in charge that’s what we’ll get.
wasn't there a suggestion that Potter wanted more power than Rudkin wanted to relinquish, if memory serves me right @LinekersLugs dropped a few hints

I want to just put this out there as a bit of poser going forward, especially for the people defending him and saying about staying up
What if Cooper does last the season and keeps us up? what do we want/expect for the following season? can anyone see him taking us forward and pushing the club forward? do we buckle in for another bumpy season and accept 17th place?

Ricardo isn’t going to play as an out and out right back again in his career (for an extended period). Body can’t handle it. It’s no coincidence he went a year without notable injury layoff when moved into midfield.
you've got no idea what his body can and can't do

Does one think that Rudkin/Top are telling him who to play somewhat?
surely not

Because a player made a awful error.
We won the PL by sitting in.
It not waht you do it's how well you do it.
And you have no idea if he hadn’t they would have scored anyway, it certainly looked like a goal was coming. And if you think we’ve played anything remotely similar to when we won the league i suspect a trip to specsavers might be on the cards

You took about logic and come up with the first paragraph, how do you know?
er, well they sort of like, did score. we've seen this time and time again in games when teams sit back

How was it yesterday?
was alright, little different pockets starting songs from all over. stood down the bottom section and top, view was shite down bottom. someone kept farting in the top bit and stunk. nothing else to report, although did see 1 of the UFS fella's whos normal jumping up and down nonstop waving a scarf around all game in full mute mode all game, maybe had a sore throat
-
and you know what summed it up for me, after they equalised palace attacked and Mads got the ball, whoever was on the left wing shot out the blocks as did a couple of other players and there was plenty of space and a great chance to counter attack. because i was watching the winger i immediately spotted cooper, telling mads to calm down and keep the ball and waste more time. clearly no intention of trying to push on again and retake the lead

We lost by 1 goal against Fulham, we drew with Spurs and drew with Palace, so we were competitive in energy game. Did you not watch them?
I've been to every game this season thanks, we've been lucky so far as it could have been worse. spurs could and should have been out of sight and 3-0 up at half time. fulham we weren't even close and they didn't get out of 2nd gear

He's a defender it's he role, it wasn't a difficult ball to deal with.
they were always going to score somehow due to us sitting so far back and inviting them to batter us
edit - and just to add with your logic we wouldn't have been 1 nil up if their goalkeeper didn't **** up and get lost in no mans land

We'll be more attacking at home. You've got to stay in games in this division.. if you go too gung ho you can find yourself 2 or 3 down in a blink of an eye and the game is done. I'm happy that we have been competitive in every game so far.
clearly didn't watch the fulham game, or the first half of the spurs game or the 2nd half of the palace game

I didn’t like his choice of 11 again today but at 2-0 up he had got it right. We pressed them well and created the 3 best chances of that game at that point. Conceding straight after going 2 up isn’t coopers fault. Sending an extremely experienced CB on who got bullied by a kid half his size and then made a crap challenge in the box also isn’t his fault.
Could we have gone at them a bit more and tried to make it 1-3? Yes maybe. But that aside I’m not blaming cooper. There’s a culture of blaming the manager in football. Sometimes the players just need to make better decisions.
said many times on here, the only ones ever saying anything about 'forest connections' are the ones defending him

So you don't think Coady should have dealt we the initial ball?
I didn't have the best angle from in the ground but it looked easy enough for him to deal with.
if we hadn't sat back for most of the 2nd half he might not have been put in that position in the first place

I thought we managed the game really well they did not look like scoring from open play but for a Coady brain fart that cost us 2 points today.
they literally battered us all 2nd half, and most of the 1st

I’m no apologist for Cooper but I do feel like people are forgetting just how weak this squad is in terms of PL quality. Our transfer window has been pretty underwhelming and I’m not sure the likes of Skipp, BDR and Jordan Ayew are the kind of players that are going to see a championship team thrive at this level
we could sack cooper in a month but do we have the players to avoid the drop? I’m not sure we do. This isn’t the same club as it was 3 years ago - the owners have turned it into a championship outfit struggling to keep afloat
nonsense

We also didn't have a single shot 2nd half until the closing minutes.
that 2nd half was really tough watching, especially getting soaked walking to the ground and booze wearing off

My best and worst points were in Egypt. The hotel served some local beer called Four Star (ominously unambitious), it tasted like special brew but was something like 3%. They served it probably 200ml plastic cups too. Rancid.
After that course of shit, we found out there was a nice marina. This Millwall fan and his wife (from Leicester) mentioned the Marina was actually nice - contrary to rest of Hurghada looking like it’s from Call of Duty.
So on the final night we went to an Indian, had a great curry and a cracking (it probably wasn’t but in contrast) Heineken. F uck Egypt

add them in if you want, but what i said still stands, Fulham have only beaten us this season, Spurs have only beaten Everton this season and Palace still haven't won....
