  3. A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow, that was addressed to "Dad." With the worst premonition he opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the letter. Dear Dad, It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing to you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with you and Mum. I have been finding real passion with Stacy and she is so nice, but I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercings, tattoos, leather clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am, but it's not only the passion...Dad, she's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people that live nearby for cocaine and E's. In the meantime we will pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better. She deserves it. Don't worry Dad. I'm 15 and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure that we will be back to visit so that you can get to know your grandchildren. Love, John PS. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the school report that's in my centre desk drawer. Call me when it's safe to come home!

  8. HEADLINE: TEACHER ARRESTED AT NEW YORK AIRPORT A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule and a calculator. At a morning press conference, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. "Al-gebra is a problem for us," Gonzales said. "They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country." As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle." When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said, "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes." White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the president.
  9. Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a large, raging, violent river. Needing to get to the other side, the first man prayed: "God, please give me the strength to cross the river." Poof!... God gave him big arms and strong legs and he was able to swim across in about 2 hours, having almost drowned twice. After witnessing that, the second man prayed: "God, please give me strength and the tools to cross the river." Poof!... God gave him a rowing boat and strong arms and strong legs and he was able to row across in about an hour, after almost capsizing once. Seeing what happened to the first two men, the third man prayed: "God, please give me the strength, the tools and the intelligence to cross the river." Poof!... He was turned into a woman. She checked the map, walked one hundred yards upstream and sauntered across the bridge.
  10. Erm, I'm no expert in Catholicism but as far as I'm aware IVF does, indeed, go against the principles of the Roman Catholic Church. But then how many people follow their own religious convictions only as and when it suits them? I wasn't aware though that the McCanns had had IVF and I don't really see the relevance to finding Madeline. I must admit though that getting the Pope involved seems little more than a publicity stunt.
  11. Speak for yourself!
  12. Well said.
  13. Er, yes you can, and you should.. given the circumstances. :mad2:
  14. This story is truly tragic and I hope she is found safe and well soon. We all make errors of judgement from time to time without - thankfully - ever being forced to fully acknowledge the true cost of our own actions. Yes, I queried the parents' decision to leave those children alone but we simply cannot live our lives anticipating danger around every corner. I can only guess at the horror the parents must have felt when they discovered she was missing and the sickening reality came to light. My heart goes out to them.
  15. A BRAVE MAN WROTE THIS!.......Brave, but probably dead! Son asks his mother, "Mum, why are wedding dresses white?" The mother looks at her son and replies, "Son, this shows your friends and relatives that your bride is pure." The son thanks his Mum and goes off to double-check this with his father. "Dad why are wedding dresses white?" The father looks at his son in surprise and says, "Son, all household appliances come in white."
  16. Ouch! Or the men just weren't listening.
  17. What's the problem? I'm no expert, but may be able to help.
