There absolutely needs to be an away loyalty scheme, albeit one that is fair and accessible; which it isn’t in its current guise. Any scheme should be purely based on away attendance on a rolling period, rather than season tickets as has been suggested for a long time. With that in place, there shouldn’t be a need to share tickets around as everybody has a fair shot at attending away matches and increasing their priority. I do believe, however, that there should be some sort of resale structure in place given how far in advance tickets actually go on sale. There’s currently no facility in place should plans change last minute for whatever reason. Given the massive drop off in demand over the last few years, I honestly don’t believe that sharing references/tickets is big enough an issue to justify ticket collection or ID checks - it’s a pain in the a*se for match going supporters.

Exactly the reason why a change in the scheme is needed - to reward those that do put the effort in to do every game they are able to but don’t currently have the opportunity to build a higher priority. My initial point was made to counteract numerous posts I’d seen suggesting that it’s a ‘closed shop’ and impossible to get away tickets. Away tickets are available if you’re prepared to put the effort in; although possibly not always for the more fashionable/first choice fixtures. If you’re prepared to do these games (as you clearly are) then you deserve a reward for it I.e. chance to build towards a higher priority. As it happens, this will be the first away I’ve missed so far this season as I’m at the England game - a game I purchased a ticket for back in May before this match was announced.

Unsure whether this is aimed at me but if it is then clearly you haven’t read my posts. I’ve agreed that changes to the scheme are needed; despite being top priority myself and not actually being affected by the issues you’ve described. By all means reset the priority scheme but ticket accessibility isn’t solely down to the scheme. Regardless of the scheme in place, people are always going to have restricted access without travelling to the less attractive fixtures and earning a higher priority. I’ve seen several posts questioning the need for a priority scheme and that was why I made my original point. Those that travel to the less attractive fixtures deserve to be rewarded. It’s likely that some with lower priority will be travelling to this match and similar so yes, they do therefore deserve to be given the opportunity to build a higher priority - something I’ve never been opposed to.

It adds up though doesn’t it? As somebody with top priority, I can assure you I don’t travel week in, week out just for the solitary point.

As I’ve said in other posts, I’ve followed the Club home and away for over 25 years and remember previous loyalty schemes in place and regardless of the scheme, one common theme has remained - there’s only an issue with the scheme when the big games roll around. Even if the scheme were to change, you’d still have people that moan if they weren’t able to get tickets to 2/3 high profile matches a season. I think you’ve misread my posts as what I’ve actually said is that even if/when the scheme changes and the 50 points removed, people will only be able to climb the ladder by attending the less fashionable games. If those at the top continue you go week in, week out then nothing will change. I’ve also stated that despite being top priority, I’m actually in favour of changing the scheme for a number of reasons; primarily as it’ll be easier for younger generations to attend matches and to climb the ladder.

I completely agree, the system needs changing. However, the suggestion that’s been made on several occasions that away tickets aren’t accessible to the lower bands simply isn’t true. Over the past few years, there have been a high number of opportunities for people to access tickets but they’ve chosen not to. It seems to be that a vast majority only have an issue with the priority scheme when they’re unable to get tickets for the more fashionable games having not bothered with remainder and that will remain the same to an extent even if the system changes. I do, however, support making changes to the system to enable younger generations to climb the ladder. Even with this, people are still only going to be able to access the more popular fixtures by putting the hard yards in and it’s been proven on many occasions that they’re simply not willing.

As I’ve said previously, I do agree; although it isn’t the sole reason why people aren’t able to get away tickets. I just think it’s easy for people to hide behind it as an excuse rather than putting in the hard yards to earn priority. Regardless of the system in place, it’s important to reward loyalty and therefore those that travel week in, week out. The suggestion that it isn’t possible to pick up away tickets is completely false; only that it may not be possible for certain fixtures if you’ve not bothered with the rest! As it happens, I’m a supporter of amending the current scheme; despite being top priority myself.

I agree, that aspect certainly needs changing; although my point still stands. As somebody who has been going home and away every week for 25+ years, you’ll still have people that moan regardless of the system in place and that’s why I made the point. The 50 points added each season for renewing is scapegoated somewhat as people will always miss out on tickets for high profile matches without putting the hard yards in.

I don’t disagree as I myself have tickets to the England game, although these excuses are always pushed to one side with higher profile fixtures. If it were Forest away for example then it would be a completely different story. These are exactly the type of fixtures people should be attending to build towards a higher priority. The priority scheme only ever becomes an issue with the higher profile fixtures and even if it were to change, we’d still be left with the same issue with people complaining at not getting tickets for these fixtures without putting in the hard yards.

So the priority scheme is only an issue when it suits then? This has already gone to Members and we’ve barely sold half the allocation.

As others have covered on several occasions, the priority scheme does need an overhaul but certainly not to this extent. Loyalty and attendance should always be rewarded first and foremost so I don’t agree with this idea; with those in the top brackets deserving to be there. One option could be setting aside a small percentage to ballot for those in the lower points brackets; similar to the England Supporters Travel Club. Luton is always going to be a popular game given the fact it’s a Saturday and relatively easy to get to so there’s always going to be some unhappy to miss out.

It seems as though 1 block has sold out; along with around half of another and 3 yet to open.

Both Terraces sold out but around 20 seated tickets remain.

A change to the system would at least give you a better and more fairer opportunity to earn more points; I certainly do hope it’s changed to enable this. I do stand by my original point, however, in that the issue is only ever highlighted when it comes to more popular games and grounds with a lower allocation; there are always going to be people that miss out.

I’ve followed the Club home and away now for over 30 years and admittedly benefit from being top priority as I do the majority of away games each year. Despite this, I agree that the system needs reform as there is no way that points accrued from over 10 years ago should determine eligibility now. Ultimately, however, there still needs to be a similar system in place that rewards loyalty and those that travel to the majority of away games. As you elude to, you perhaps make a handful of games each year and unfortunately if that’s the case then there will always be games you miss out on regardless of the system in place. A system reform would at least give you the opportunity to build towards a higher priority, but I’ve always maintained that this is only ever an issue with the more popular fixtures or grounds with a low allocation. I hope you’re given the opportunity.
