This morning RVN was 3/1 alongside Potter. Now he's 7/2, so his odds have actually drifted slightly in the past few hours. If the shortest odds available are 7/2, that tells you nobody has a scoobie.
-
The reports are suggesting that we're not interested in Potter, not the other way around.
-
You've answered your own question.
-
Home or away?
-
If RVN hadn’t been a famous player and was being judged solely on his managerial/coaching experience, would he even be in the conversation? I know we took a punt on Enzo, but would we usually take a risk on such an inexperienced manager in the situation we’re currently in? It seems unlikely. Choosing a manager because of their fame as a player makes me uneasy…
-
There aren’t any actual rumours about Southgate, are there? Besides, why would he join a club mid-seaaon during a relegation scrap when he can afford to take a break and pick up a job next summer if he wants?
-
Not really. The club is pretty secretive and pretty good at keeping things in house. RVN and Potter are currently joint favourites at 3/1 - those kind of odds suggest nobody has a clue.

West Ham 2-0 up. [phone rings] ”Top? Hi! Graham here. You ok? [nervous laughter]. Listen mate, I’ve been having a think and I was just wondering…”
-
West Ham 1-0 up at Newcastle at HT. Graham Potter has taken his phone off airplane mode, gone into his contacts and is hesitating over Top’s number…
-
I honestly don’t think anybody gave a shit about the Forest connection. It was the abysmal performances, complete absence of tactical identity the lack of any discernible improvement that rubbed people up the wrong way.
-
Van Nistelrooy would probably insist on a break clause if we went down, which I’m sure we’d happily agree to.
-
Owynn Palmer Atkin was pretty unequivocal that the club has told him that neither Potter nor Moyes are under consideration. It would not be in his interests to say that if it was not true.
-
I reckon it might be Moyes or Potter.
-
I don’t think the club is planning for the possibility of relegation at all. Cooper has been sacked precisely because they desperately want to avoid it.
-
Moyes already has the Everton connection. Plus, I don’t think Top would want him.
-
It wouldn’t surprise me if Potter is West Ham manager by the end of the week if they lose tonight.

Everton

Who’s mentioned Southgate?! 😳
-
Total radio silence from the players as far as I can tell...
-
So why hasn't there been an announcement yet? Media reports suggest we haven't got an agreement with anybody...
-
Why would Moyes accept a temporary gig? All he has to do is wait a few weeks and another PL team will offer him a permanent job.
-
It has been suggested that Top feels it was a mistake to move away from his preferred playing style when we appointed Cooper, and that he wants to return to something closer to Maresca's style. If that's true (and I have no idea if it is), then it won't be Moyes.
-
Moyes has drifted out to 4/1 on betfair so you can fill your boots if you're confident about this. Potter still clear favourite, though only at 2/1 - ie, nobody really knows anything...
-
Basically, yes.

This is what Tanner writes in the article published a short while ago on The Athletic: "The next step will be crucial. The Potter ship may have sailed, although Leicester have held a long-term interest in him, but there are also admirers of Ruud van Nistelrooy internally at the King Power stadium, and while David Moyes is available, he seems an unlikely appointment." So he doesn't really offer an opinion on Potter at all - just an observation that he's turned us down before. However he does have an opinion that Moyes is unlikely...
