  1. It shouldn't affect the players as the stadium has a roof and is air conditioned. It will be around 23c inside.
  2. This would be a positive sign. If we're pushing revenue into the next financial year, it implies we're not desperately trying to comply with PSR for 2025/26 and should have more funds for next season.
  3. This. Burnley‘s case was simple: if Everton’s six-point deduction had been imposed within the season they breached, it would have materially affected the outcome (ie, Burnley would have survived and Everton would have gone down). That does not apply in either of the seasons that Leeds are apparently ‘considering’ suing us for. Maybe somebody with legal knowledge can explain how Leeds may have a case here because at face value it doesn’t make any sense.
  4. I'm curious to see whether there is a rush to sell before 30 June or a preference for delaying sales until after 1 July. That will tell us a little about our likely spending power under SCMP.
  5. No sure why, but I quite fancy Senegal to get something tonight.
  6. We go round and round in circles on this. Dave Challinor has just left Stockport and has a flawless record of getting his teams into the play-off places at least every season. He would almost certainly have been obtainable as well.
  7. I still don’t reckon it will be Martin.
  8. A polite note to ITV Sport: I am aware that Lamine Yamal is a very good footballer. You don’t need to be remind me of that fact by heaping giddy superlatives on him every time he completes a simple five-yard pass…
  9. This expanded 48-team format is ridiculous. It totally devalues the competition having these tiny no-hoper countries in…
  10. I quite like this guy. He doesn't get everything spot on, but for a non-Leicester fan he is quite insightful and balanced. In this video he goes through the players we still have under contract and assesses how they'd fit in under Martin. Unsurprisingly, he finds that we have very few players who are both a) likely to flourish under Martin; and b) likely to still be with us next season.
  11. Yep. Absolutely no indication that he’s learned anything.
  12. The only thing I know about Gill is that West Brom fans were very unhappy about the prospect of him leaving and then very relieved when somebody said he was staying. They seem to think he played a major role in keeping them up last season. It wouldn't surprise me if we're still trying to get him out of West Brom.
  13. The comment you quoted was not about RM’s appointment, which I believe to be a horrendous mistake by the club. It was just an observation about our likely squad composition next season & would apply whoever was appointed manager.
  14. I can see Alves, Braybrooke and Page being starters. Nelson may be sold if we get a decent offer. The one positive we have at the moment is that even if 20 of last season's squad end up leaving, we won't have to buy replacements for all of them as you'd expect the academy to fill in some of the gaps. This will hopefully mean we can concentrate whatever budget we have on a handful of quality signings rather than stretch it across a large number of average ones.
  15. It will depend entirely on what kind of squad he gets to work with. Next season's squad will likely be virtually unrecognizable from last season's, but nobody knows who will be in it so it's hard to predict where we'll end up.
  16. He's said he wants a break from football, so we could be the perfect fit for him.
  17. Which is the baffling thing. Martin is 40—a young manager by any measure. He's shown he can coach a squad of players to play a particular way. He's got a good track record of blooding young players and is usually popular in the dressing room (Rangers being a notable exception). By all accounts he his ambitious and sees himself managing at the very top. Yet he has this glaring weakness in that he refuses to deviate from his preferred style even when it is tantamount to suicide against superior opposition. This means he will only ever deliver success if the squad at his disposal is technically superior to every other team in whatever division they're in. If he doesn't become more pragmatic it will strangle his career before it's really taken off, yet he shows no signs of altering his approach. It's very odd.
  18. Rogers’ was worse than Madueke’s.
  19. Japan are 13/5 to beat the Netherlands on Sunday. Tempted.
  20. Have Costa Rica been paid to try to kick us off the park?
  21. Not sure anyone can sue us. Burnley’s case against Everton was that if their six-point deduction had been applied in-season, Everton would have gone down and Burnley would have stayed up. If our six-point deduction had been applied in 23/24, we’d still have been promoted in second place.
  22. Palmer is a potential game-changer. In the Euros he came on against the Netherlands and immediately set-up Watkins for the winner. Plus, he was the player of the tournament last summer when Chelsea won the Club World Cup, playing in the same stadiums in the same conditions that England will face this summer. I can see the logic in most of Tuchel's decisions, but leaving Palmer out seems like a major error to me. And given it turns out Saka isn't even fit it's even more baffling.
  23. Sure, but Burnley's legal argument hinged on the fact that Everton's deduction would have relegated them and kept Burnley up. There's no ambiguity there—it's just a matter of fact. The same would not apply in our case as our deduction in itself would not have denied us promotion. Leeds' argument could only be that they'd have got more points if we'd have been punished earlier, which is highly subjective and impossible to prove.
  24. Burnley were able to go after Everton because Everton's six-point deduction, had it been applied in the season they breached, would have resulted in Everton going down and Burnley staying up. If our six point deduction for the 2023/24 breach been imposed during that season, we'd still have finished in second, a point ahead of Leeds. So a completely different case to Burnley/Everton.
