It's what you do when you see a mate in distress, especially when you need that mate to recover in time for the World Cup in a couple of weeks.
As far as the game is concerned, would have been interesting to see Arteta do what Maresca did with Chelsea in the Club World final and continue pressing for a second (and indeed, third) goal.
Instead, he sought to park the bus and ended up paying the price.
Sadly, though, gooners still look best bets to win the PL next season.. 😟

It's incredible how many of our old boys can put Seagrave behind them so quickly..
-
Sunderland are a far bigger club than Hull, who couldn't even shift their full ticket allocation yesterday.
There isn't a hope of the tigers being able to attract the likes of Xhaka or Brobbey.

It'd be no different to signing a known druggie.
Was going to suggest Mykhailo Mudryk as the first signing, but he's still got two years to serve of his ban.

Maybe you’re forgetting he played at Forest for ten years. He's a legend but he doesn’t view us as highly as we view him!
You obviously didn't see his autobiography, in which MON makes NO mention whatsoever of his time as manager of Forest.
He does, though, mention his talks with Vichai about a return to City in 2015.
But he eventually decided to stay with Ireland, whom he took to the Euros the year afterwards.
That was a real sliding doors moment for us, as it allowed Ranieri to slide into the club.

Very unfair on Jedward. They did OK when they took part in Eurovision.

Watkins finding form the right time, think that's his airplane seat booked for the world cup. To make things interestingly depressing ten years ago we won the premier league, whilst Villa were rock bottom. Now Villa are 4th in the champions league and europa league final midweek to come. Credit to them, got a good manager and signed some decent players. Liverpool wow they look so bad tonight, makes you think was last years title winning season more of momentum from Klopp era and this year we are seeing more of the Slot team..
Both Van Dijk and Salah are in serious decline. Slot needs to replace both if he wants to avoid running out of credit with the Liverpool fanbase.

Hate Chelsea. Hate Man City. But if I could wish anyone to score the winner it would be Semenyo.
Top lad who has worked his bollax off to get to where he is today.
Deserved.
The same Semenyo who turned out for Newport in THAT FA Cup tie.

Glad Man City won it
if only so Chelsea and Fofana didn't
The same Fofana whose sale saved us from potential liquidation?
Although that wasn't how it was spun to us by Rodgers and Rudkin at the time.

Think the SPL is doing that. Dodgy officiating and then letting Celtic be the home team in all the big games as appose to most seasons when they let the top team play at home on the final game. Corrupt as day
In most SPL seasons, the league is won (usually by Celtic these days) long before the final day.
This season, Celtic played twice away at Hearts during the regular season. So it was their turn to play at home in the final weeks.

It's a documentary that could have come out five years ago.
Most Foxes forget how badly Vardy struggled during his first season with us. Only Pearson's perseverance with him rescued his career, both then and again in 2014-15 when he went a full SIX MONTHS without scoring.
Vardy is a strong character who needs careful management. Sadly, under the current regime at City, he wasn't always given that.

I think there were a few
1) 1st game of season - Brentford at home 2-0 up, BRodgers deciding not to bring any subs on whe Frank bought 5 on, final result 2-2
2) Winter World Cup, After beating Everton and West ham in early November wouldn't need to get wait to get battered at home on Boxing by Newcastle
3) Sacking BRodgers BEFORE the March international wiindow, might have got something at Palace
4) Sacking BRodgers BEFORE the March Internaional Window, meaning we had a new manager in place NOT Sadler and Stowell in place for the vital home games against Villa, where Wilf passed to Traore for him to score the winner in the first in ever, and Bournemouth when Madders backpass was the difference in a 1-0 defeat
5) Aforementioned Madders inability to absolutely take the leather of the peno
The winter World Cup really shafted us. We won 4 out of 5 games before that (and Danny Ward kept 4 clean sheets! 😯)
This gave BR a stay of execution on his ridiculously expensive contract, awarded him by Rudkin in late 2019 to keep him from going to Arsenal or Spurs.

We’re in an afterthought for O’Neill. He prefers Forest and a lot of other clubs to us.
Seriously doubt that, given the way the Greek gangster treated MON when he and Roy Keane had a brief spell in charge there.
Vichai tried to sign him a couple of times, before and after St Nigel's second coming, but was knocked back on both occasions.
His legend status with us remains undimmed. No reason for him to risk tarnishing it now.

That makes a nice little treble of them falling short in the really big games (FA semi and vs us at home last season) Their deluded fans probably think these chances will be a regular thing now but in reality mid size clubs need to make them count when they come along.
Too right..
36 years without a trophy for them now. Can only see that run extending in the years ahead.
Meanwhile we're the only Midlands side to have won the grand slam of domestic trophies this century (not that it'll stop Salford or Stevenage stuffing us next season, mind..).

Brendon Rodgers did that after the fa cup loss at forest, and kept doing it until the day he was sacked
Rodgers tried to pretend the players threw him under the bus that day, when it was actually the other way round.
As Celtic found later on, he'll take responsibility for nothing..

There wasn't just one single reason we won the league, but Kanté was the closest to it and it absolutely wouldn't have happened without him.
Rudkin's decision to give N'Golo a buyout clause in his contract - thus enabling Chelsea to sign him - was the first of many acts of sabotage.
We could have had a real crack at the Champions League in 16-17.

Jesus Christ I am all for Rudkin bashing but do me a favour. Smithies was at the club for 2 years played not one single game and left with over 3 million quid.
Where did you get this figure from?
And if it turns out to be true, wonder who'd have drawn up the contract?
No wonder Rudkin is a toxic, discredited figure whom no manager or player of any quality will touch with a barge pole.

I remember it too. That team went down with 52 points. No way is this team getting that many
It's a very doable target...if Mr Di Marco manages to reverse the 6-point deduction..

We won the prem.
Weve won the FA Cup, Charity Shield and League cup all in the modern era.
We've always filled away ends up and down the country.
Ermm.. no we haven't.
Even during the golden age of Martin O'Neill, there were plenty of games where we struggled (and often failed) to sell our allocations for away games.
More recently, our turnout for a cup quarter-final (Newcastle, League Cup 2023) barely made four figures.
And there have been several games this season, especially in midweek, where swathes of empty seats have been in evidence on our travels.

The point being they have improved since he was sacked. Obviously went over your head
But have they?
They failed to beat a Pompey side who were down to 10 men for over 70 minutes today.
Without the Rudkin tax and the donation of 3 points in Cifuentes' farewell game, they'd already be terminally adrift of us.

Where did that come from?
There's more evidence to suggest others were greater instigators of episodes of unrest than KS.
