James deal should be done regardless even if the deal is the depressing outcome of us signing him and then having to sell him immediately to raise money. This season is like we started the transfer budget at -£50mil. We did actually take some money in in the summer yet all it seems to have done is financed the out of control wage bill while we half arse it and can't actually buy anybody.

We really needed to know by now what the points deduction would be, and if we are actually getting one. He hasn't been great this season but I think if you have a situation where you sell him and are using that to finance everything else, aka, we'd cheap out on a replacement then we'd be risking actually getting relegated if the deduction was heavy. I can see him going in this window. Bet we negotiate ourselves down to about 20mil as well.

There really is absolutely nothing between about 20 teams in this league and we're very much one of those - which is egregious given the money we spend on this squad in wages. Multiple times the wage bill of most of the other 20 as well. It's good that Derby 'still' haven't won at this ground but the whole thing feels like we're just... existing. We'll finish with an almost identical number of wins, draws and losses. We're completely average - below average coaching and management, above average individuals in some areas that'll cancel out and see us finish anywhere from 10th to 16th.

Reminds me of when we played Portsmouth twice in a few days in 2010, won the first game having started well and got outplayed for most of it, but clung on. Then lost 6-1 in the second game. We're on a run of 17 games without a clean sheet. The win over already relegated Southampton in May was our first in 29 games. Our recruitment of defenders is surely the worst in world football.
