MC Prussian Posted 27 May 2015 Share Posted 27 May 2015 Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater says fans got what they deserved with Premier League survival By Leicester Mercury | Posted: May 27, 2015 By James Sharpe Danny Drinkwater believes Leicester City's players and fans finally got what they deserved as they rounded off their remarkable Premier League season in style. City brought their campaign to a blistering close as they thumped relegated QPR 5-1 on the final day of the season. There was a carnival atmosphere at the King Power Stadium as the fans were able to celebrate having secured their Premier League survival with a game to spare. The players were able to celebrate, too, as Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton, Leonardo Ulloa, Esteban Cambiasso and Andrej Kramaric all scored in a resounding victory which brought the incredible season to a sparkling conclusion. "I can't fault the fans, they have been great all season for us. They deserve it. "It's great to end on a win, to finish the season as well as we started it. "Hopefully we take that into pre-season and the lads can carry it on through to next season." City's victory marked an incredible end to a turbulent season for Nigel Pearson's men, which saw them finish 14th in the table on 41 points. That achievement was made all the more impressive after City spent 140 days at the bottom, only to win seven of their last nine games after just four wins from their first 29. "I don't think anyone expected us to do it," said Drinkwater, who made 23 Premier League appearances this season. "We always believed but everyone outside the club probably thought we were dead and buried. "It shows our spirit, and what kind of group we are when we pull together." Andy King and Tom Lawrence have been called into the Wales squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Belgium on June 12. City striker Andrej Kramaric has been named in the Croatia squad for their friendly against Gibraltar on June 7 and their Euro qualifier against Italy on June 12.
