Arriba Los Zorros Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 If your career only really lasted 15 years, and you were six years into it, I reckon you'd jump ship if a company came along and offered to give you better wages, the possibility to learn from the very best in the industry and you weren't 100% sure you'd get the same offer again. There is, of course, one thing that could get players in such a dilemma to stay: champions league football in an excellent team they're already established in. And depending on the next five or so games, we could convince our players we are such a team. But really, hoping our best players will turn down Real, Bayern, Arsenal and Barcelona isn't tenable in the long term (I only hope they don't leave mid season). I'm much more interested in--looking forward a few seasons--building our youth team, looking at Dodoo, Chiliwick, improving Schlupp further and so forth. Chilwell is quite highly rated too
My Nads Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 If it's true that Walsh & Shakespeare get a 100% bonus for us staying up then I'd expect the players to be on a decent bonus for the same let alone qualifying for Europe. I read the players wont get a bonus if we qualify for Europe, because no one expected it to be possible. I'd like to think they would be given some sort of bonus though and I'm sure they would be.
My Nads Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Chilwell is quite highly rated too Chiliwick's better though!
Swiper Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 I'd hope the possibility of building something yourself, a real legacy, rather than being just another good player in a long, long line of good players at Man U or Arsenal would be a potential reason for some of these guys to stay. That's much more "ambitious" to me than what the pundits say about the need to jump ship to a "bigger" club if a player has ambition. Build the car instead of having the keys handed to you. Most players won't feel that way, I'm sure. But I could see Vardy, coming from the background he's come from, looking at it that way.
ARM1968 Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Some pundits have said the exact opposite - that going to a top club and disappearing would do their international chances far more harm than staying with us and playing regularly. Money usually wins though in these matters. 99% of players are mercenay. I think we all would be in similar circumstances. The offer of huge wages, real club prestige and the chance to actually win things vs loyalty to Leicester and building a legacy? What would any of us really do?
richardsfoxes Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 In my eyes even as a leicester supporter its a no brainer when top top clubs come in, your basically securing your family's future even more, the chance of winning the top prizes in football, i mean before the slump Chelsea we're on if Mourinho called you up and wanted you to join and he was going to build his team around you, I couldn't say no anyway.
Master Fox Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 As long we have Kante we'll always be a top 4 club.
ARM1968 Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Unfortunately I think Kante has been noticed too.
