Foxxed Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I completely agree - In many respects, Leicester rely on the opposition having a lot of possession. The other team can slowly bring players forward and then that leaves Leicester with the opportunity to counter attack. We can't counter attack when we have too much of the ball. It's one of the reasons why Jamie Vardy looks pretty average when he plays for England. (Sorry but he does) He's never got any space to run into because everyone is so narrow and compact. When Arsenal beat us earlier in the season, they simply played our own counter attacking style better than us. Possession based teams don't scare me at all any more. We're very well organised at the back, especially since Simpson and Fuchs have been playing. I I guess our main problem is that, once we've nicked the ball off them when they're vulnerable, our main ploy is give it to Mahrez or Vardy, and so marking them out the game nullifies our attack, since Kanté and Drinky aren't getting on the scoresheet currently. It's fantastic Ranieri's managed, with the help of Ulloa, to get us scoring from set pieces, giving us another option, but I reckon Shinji's constant improvements are our best bet entering into the second half of the season, or perhaps use Gray or Amartey (if that goes through) somehow.
