Meltonfossefox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Had my MD a Man U fan give stats yesterday in a meeting (tbh he wasn't giving us any crap) just demonstrating the stat yet the difference in possession v position. Even tho he wasn't having a pop the discussion ended immediately when I said "I discuss champions league not mid table so stick your possession" fair play he laughed and said "can't really argue with that can I.
Meltonfossefox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Love to compare the stats of possession v tv ratings for neutrals when we're on tv. I'd bet a shed of neutrals tune in to watch a team with low possession ....... Hardly boring is it.
yorkie1999 Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 EA will be screwed when come to write fifa 17 basing the algorithm for the stronger teams on possession stats.
Foxxed Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 In the horse breeding business or to the point the stallion business we often employ a Teaser A teaser is generally a horny little devil of a horse who spends ages with the female (Mare) getting her all hot and bothered , teasing her and getting her ready to the task at hand , back and forth back and forth till the Mare is hot to trot and ready to be serviced (covered) The poor little teaser is also hot and bothered and gagging for it , ages spent with the mare , back and forth he has had all the posession , he has worked the mare over for ages and right at the moment of action the poor devil is led out a back gate and stuck alone in a stable , While in waltzes the BIG brut of a german stallion and he gets one shot to do his business and boom he cracks on and get the job done first time and in quick time ! Spurs were the old teaser last night they were keeping posession and working the crowd up into a hot and bothered lather but when the real action started In waltzed the big strong Leicester stallion and nailed them to the back of the net ! .....PURE THOROUGHBRED ! Haha. Spurs were the fluffer, then, until Huth came on and ****ed Lloris. Allowing the opponent possession, stifling them and working out or waiting for a potential weakness may be a decent tactic. It may also explain why we're better in the second half. That said, in the first half of the season, at least, it didn't seem we were looking for a weakness, but rather waiting for Vardy and Mahrez to poke holes on their defence. May be true now though...
Foxxed Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 I like our footballing style anyhow, since it reminds me of how foxes act in groups, lurking around in the outskirts, waiting for a good opportunity, then striking.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Personally, I'm more concerned by the lack of capitals and punctuation by O.P.s.
ozleicester Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 oops meant to put this here... Possession/passes when in the opponents half is interesting
4everfox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Its just an excuse that's all. I find it more amusing then anything else. Let other teams play the possession card, we can play the league table card to trump it every single time.
waylander Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 oops meant to put this here... Possession/passes when in the opponents half is interesting me and the father in law saying the same we have our posesion in there half and score . 2nd in that league table We have there pants down before they know it
suffolk fox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Possession stats mean absolutely the square root of eff all. It's the bloody score at the end of a game that matters. Playing side to side passing in your own half or intricately playing it on the edge of a penalty area and doing eff all with it won't score you goals.
GaelicFox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Ah, the old football / animal sex analogy. Plus ça change... Ya not used often enough in my opinion LOL
Loggy88 Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Possession means nothing if you don't do much with it, we are so quick on the counter we can let the opposition have more of the ball. Defend well, and then make the most of the ball when we get it.
Foxxed Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 oops meant to put this here... Possession/passes when in the opponents half is interesting Interesting. So we do have one of the lowest pass rates overall, and lowest in opposition half, but wherever we do have it, it's much more likely to be in our opponent's half. Hilarious that man city are the only team above us, and that's likely because their opponents defend in droves. We're passing the ball where it counts, basically, and letting our opponents have the ball otherwise.
Foxxed Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Given Fuchs and Kané's excellent interception statistics, along with our quick counter attacking, the other team's possession can even be made into a weakness.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I'm getting frustrated with this too. It's quite simple though - possession is meaningless if you don't do anything with it - look at Man Utd this season. Possession football without guile or star quality can be relatively fruitless. We play to our strengths, in a system that is working. Who cares? Surely that's a good strategy. Interestingly I know a Man Utd fan, who was always a closet LCFC fan, who now says he prefers watching us. I rest my case!
AyewJoking Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 yes lets dick around passing amongst the midfield and back for whilst they get set up defensively rather than get the ball to Mahrez, Albrighton or Vardy whilst they are scrambling to recover, that would make perfect sense Gokhan?
Dan Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I like our style(s). We've got more than one. We've proven we can blaze teams on the front foot and we've proven we can grind wins on the back.
AyewJoking Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 As my wife always tells me, its not what you've got. its what you do with it.
Finnegan Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Honestly don't give a ****. Dominating games = creating tidy chances. Dominating games =/= having lots of possession and doing nothing with it. As said in another thread, if it takes you fifty passes to get to goal, that's not a good move, you're doing it wrong.
Langley Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 As my wife always tells me, its not what you've got. its what you do with it. That's what she says to me as well. Or at least that's what I think she said. Her mouth was full at the time.
LAprice_ Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Given Fuchs and Kané's excellent interception statistics, along with our quick counter attacking, the other team's possession can even be made into a weakness. I completely agree - In many respects, Leicester rely on the opposition having a lot of possession. The other team can slowly bring players forward and then that leaves Leicester with the opportunity to counter attack. We can't counter attack when we have too much of the ball. It's one of the reasons why Jamie Vardy looks pretty average when he plays for England. (Sorry but he does) He's never got any space to run into because everyone is so narrow and compact. When Arsenal beat us earlier in the season, they simply played our own counter attacking style better than us. Possession based teams don't scare me at all any more. We're very well organised at the back, especially since Simpson and Fuchs have been playing. I
Buggsteam Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Possession doesn't win you games, goals do. Yes Spurs had more possession then we did as most teams have had over us this season but Spurs couldn't score and we did. So possession means jack sh*t if you can't score
4everfox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Our style makes a mockery of possession football. You have the ball and try and break us down if you dare but we will prove to be a very tough nut to crack and we will hit you on the counter and make you realise how pointless possession football is when playing us and you will vent your frustration by slagging off our style to hide the fact that you are really in awe of us.
Captain... Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 First thing is it is bloody dangerous passing the ball around the back, we've picked up a few goals by pressing the defenders trying to pass their way out of trouble. We do have a mindset of if in doubt hit it long with the advantage of a player like Vardy who can turn that long ball into a goal scoring opportunity. I really wouldn't worry about it, first the chat was that we leaked too many goals, we've resolved that and now conceded 2 in 6. Then it was we haven't played anyone good yet, we've now played everyone and are still joint top. They questioned our strength in depth and how we would cope without Vardy or if the goals dried up or if we lost a game or this that or the other. Guess what? we're still joint top. Fvck possession stats and pass accuracy fvck anyone who can't be big enough to give credit where it's due. although I would love it if Claudio just decided to play a possession game for a few games and still win, just for shits and giggles.
Fox92 Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Don't really get the argument, every team plays to their strengths. If Reneri's feels were better in other areas then so be is. After all, we're second so I'm guessing he knows a lot more than general football fans.
