Nick Posted 5 March 2016 Posted 5 March 2016 It's a mess alright. Turkey know how far they can push and if they cross that line Russia will let them know very swiftly I would imagine.
SMX11 Posted 5 March 2016 Posted 5 March 2016 But wait isn't it all big bad Russia and Assad's fault? Oh that's right we are being manipulated be our elites again.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 5 March 2016 Posted 5 March 2016 The true cvnts of the world are definitely the Saudi's. Would do anything, including fund terrorism, to get their oil pipeline in and has the entire West singing their tune for the black stuff.
Thracian Posted 10 March 2016 Author Posted 10 March 2016 As ever, the Shia (Iranian-backed) Hezbollah are muscling for position in Lebanon (as they have long been in Israel) and this could lead to further carnage on Syria's doorstep, with the sizeable Christian interest split pretty much down the middle and inevitably vulnerable as they are in so many places without proper support. As mentioned so many times, ISIS have provoked what amounts to a fight between Sunni and Shia for dominance but with the added agenda of eroding the entire Middle East and beyond (where possible) of non-Muslim interest while expanding Muslim presence and influence everywhere they can. We just don't seem to get it but Erdogan has made his aims unambiguous - he wants an expanding caliphate of the kind that once flew the banners of the Ottoman Empire. Key in "Erdogan's Ottoman aims" to the internet to get a broad viewpoint on the subject, but there seems to be all sorts of aspects to muse over in the links below - and few of them positive (as I can see) for the philosophically weakening West which so badly needs a unifying factor and some wise/visionary leadership before it really is too late http://cyprusglobaleconomy.com/2016/02/22/erdogans-self-delussion-plan-of-a-new-islamic-ottoman-empire-the-lost-tribes-of-khazars-and-wwiii/ Seems to me that either the US, Europe and the Western allies finds the will to align themselves much more closely and sincerely with Russia and China along with other, seemingly more comfortable, allies (for all that I don't altogether understand that), or the only thing that will stand between modern Western values and Islamic caliphitic expansion will be the the bitter divisions between the Shia of Iran (and friends) and the Sunnis of Turkey/Saudi (and friends) and those divisions might yet be mended out of expedience, for all that they would likely remain fractious to the point of breaking (by accident or desing) in the end. http://cyprusglobaleconomy.com/2016/02/22/erdogans-self-dellusion-plan-of-a-new-islamic-ottoman-empire-the-lost-tribes-of-khazars-and-wwiii/ http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Syrian-opposition-reveals-alleged-Hezbollah-plan-to-seize-Beirut-447523? http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2012/al-monitor/lebanons-dangerous-sunni-shiite.html# PS: No, I don't believe my comments are a perfect summary of the situation. I don't even believe there can be a perfect analysis with so many shifting sands that are so hard to keep abreast of. But, it's my take based on what I've read and, even if I'm wrong, the situation is critical and with the potential to get very much worse and in so many ways. Erdogan's plan is called "delusional" by some, but, like Hitler (a man he quotes so proudly) he's proved himself a ruthless political manoueverer and survivor and, while there's no doubt he provokes bitter anger and division, he also carries much support and, in the end, Sunni's outnumber Shia in the immediate vicinity with only Iran serving as a genuinely powerful local buffer but one which might yet be enticed to play its part in a caliphitic world given the Koranic philosophy of being able to agree anything if it furthers the aims of Islam. Altogether the prospects look appalling and I'd like to be as wrong as possible.
