LanguedocFox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 I got it wrong, I was expecting Sven 2.0. I was in love with Nigel tbf, it made me angry when he left. More or less my attitude as well. I headed an email to my City-supporting mates "Another Bloomfield moment?" reminding those old enough to remember of the time when Jimmy Bloomfield was sacked and an incompetent manager was appointed - albeit one with less experience than Ranieri. For those who aren't old enough to remember, Bloomfield built an entertaining middle-ranking City team promising good times, and was replaced by Frank McLintock, who led us to relegation. I didn't expect us to be relegated, but I did expect us to struggle to stay up. And I am delighted to acknowledge that I was completely and utterly wrong. Which is, I am also happy to admit, entirely normal for me.
shailen Posted 22 May 2016 Posted 22 May 2016 I never had any negative thoughts about Ranieri. Always thought he was a good manager but never imagined what he's achieved here. But I'll be the first to admit I questioned the owners about the sacking of NP, which was unfair and a backwards step at the time. I thought he was the best person to take us forward but Ranieri has proven how good he is and the owners clearly knew what they were doing.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 May 2016 Posted 22 May 2016 What is there to apologise about? Many thought he'd be a bad appointment but for good reason really. He'd just done badly with Greece. Personally I kept saying 'just wait and see'. I was underwhelmed with the appointment but willing to give him a go. Even for those who were happy with him coming here...no one would have imagined what was going to happen. It's still a bit dreamy now really and always will be. The bit that I never agreed with though, were those arguing we could never do any better than Pearson. That it would go downhill in the extreme once he'd been sacked. THAT part was naive and bizarre.
