Thracian Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 No sheehan has not really done anything to prove he's more than adequate or consistant fair enough he's got potential but we need aa decent left back not a potential left back Sheehan is quality. Way ahead as the best left back in the club and likely to get better. If we are going to get new players we want a striker and a winger and a natural defensive leader before anything else. And, did you watch Nils? Whatever the team of the championship peopple say I watched him closely and he was aweful. Not in the same League as Sheehan at left back.
Thracian Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 So he's got potential i just feel we need an established left back at this level What has he done wrong at this level? Not only has City been tighter in defence when he has played than at any other time since Levein arrived he and Stearman played centre-backs in a reserve game as the only senior players against strong Watford opposition and again, a clean sheet. In fact it was the best CENTRE-BACK performance I've seen from a City player too. Just quiet authority.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 well we will see tonight hopefully sheehan will start and prove me wrong because i don't rate him as highly as most of you.
Thracian Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 He can play all he wants but i just feel we need somebody established at LB like i said before and i've seen him in the 3 senior games and reserve games and youth games and dont think he's that special. But knowing you Ric to continue an arguement you think the sun shines out his arse and he's the next roberto carlos. But were all entitled to our opinions What exactly does Sheehan do wrong in your view?
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 Tharican Stearman on the other hand i rate extremely highly and enjoy watching him
TrickyTrev Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 I think we have lots of bit part players down the left and no one who is truely comfortable there. I would play Hume there tonight with Sheehan or Gilbert in behind him. I reckon Levein will go with Johanson though because Stearman is playing. Persoanlly I think Johanson looks too immobile to play full back.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 I never said he's done anything wrong i just think he looks extremely nervy on the ball and like i said i don't rate him as highley as most of you lot we are all entitled to our opinions aren't we?

Hume needs a goal early on in his City career so that he can push on and do well, you only need to look at what's happened to our recent strikers who haven't scored for 10 or 11 games such as Connolly, de Vries and Elvis. It effects them and puts alot pressure on their game. We don't want to make it any harder for Hume than it is, please let's play him upfront and give him as many opportunities infront of goal as possible. We need to find a confident striker who will score us the goals we need.

Ric Flair Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 He is not a striker though. Elvis is the man to bag us the goals anyway. Yes he is a striker, just because he sometimes plays just behind the strikers doesn't mean he's not a striker. It's like saying Makalele isn't a midfielder because he plays in front of the defence. Strikers are players that play high up the pitch and score goals, Hume looked like a striker last night to me and once he gets a goal or two he'll be lethal.
seventy_times_7 Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 On the topic of left sided targets, what did anyone think of Brighton's left winger last night. Albert Jarrett (no really) was his name and he made Stearman look like a fool a few times, definitely one for the future.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 He looked ok but i thought their right midfielder was better or did kisnorbo make him look good?
