What a woeful keeper for us!

lol Remember that game against Preston when their keeper (Lonergan) took a wind assisted goal kick, caught Pressman out who was too fat to jump and it bounced over him and went in!

This is going to be tricky

That's rugby player Tony Ward, who also played a few football games - this one for Limerick against Southampton in the UEFA Cup in 1981.

Edit: And thanks for that one @49er - gave me a good excuse to look back at that competition. Saints didn't get very far after beating Limerick. In the next round, Sporting gave them a hiding at the Dell. Look at this amazing footage - the kits alone were worth the admission money. Sporting were managed by Malcolm Allison at the time.

An English team being outclassed by Iberian opponents who know that the best route to goal is through the keeper's legs. Wouldn't see that these days, eh?  The UEFA Cup that season was won by 1FK Gothenburg - the first big triumph for Sven, a whole 28 years befoe he pitched up at the KP.

And finally back to Tony Ward - apparently he was so good in those games that Southampton offered him a contract. He turned it down to concentrate on rugby.

One thing I can't tell you is who he swapped shirts with, but I'm guessing it was Wor Kev, as they say on the South Coast.
