I think you are referring to the late goal against Middlesbrough in the 1982/83 promotion campaign. Boro had Pallister and Mowbray in defence

Near post header, from a Charlie Chan corner.I think you are right as regards Fulham losing to Cambridge.O'Neill also scored an important goal in the 2-0 win over Watford in the 5th round of the FA Cup in 1982
