nnfox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 We need a 2 season transfer strategy (5 transfer windows). I would say that by the beginning of the 20/21 season, we'll need at least 8 new first team regulars plus some more depth in the squad, if we can keep hold of Maguire, Ndidi and Iheanacho. Incoming order of priority: Right back Central defender x 2 Left back Winger (either side) Central midfielder Striker I hope that some of the academy players might be able to come through and fill some of those roles. Of the players that will leave, we should sell Mahrez Be open to offers for Gray, Chilwell, King, Musa, Mendy Simpson, Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Schmiechel, Vardy, Okazaki = let their contracts run down unless there is an exceptional bid coming in for them. Don't let Vardy or Schmeichel go anywhere this summer though. I think that there is some need to balance the books a little bit too. We have spent a fortune on player acquisitions over the last couple of years and we don't have that much value in the players we have in the squad right now, Mahrez aside (most of the title winning team that would have commanded high fees are into their 30's now). I'm not so sure that we'll be buying 2 or 3 £30 milliion players, so we'll have to make do with academy players, little known foreigners, championship players with a point to prove or premier league players who could count themselves unlucky to have been relegated. It is going to be interesting times and I'm not sure this forum will handle it too well!
Scotch Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Central midfield (maybe even the whole spine of the team) is the issue for me. We have players like Iborra and Silva who look the part on paper but we are losing games in the middle of the park. They are not keeping the ball or even getting it forward quickly like we used to which is both limiting our ability to create chances AND constantly putting the defenders under pressure. We need to address this issue. Ndidi is a mainstay for me, as is McGuire and Vardy. Find partners for those three and build the team from there. A centre mid who is comfortable on the ball but can cover ground is a must. I would take a punt at Steven Davis of Southampton. He's getting on so would be short term but is the complete midfielder, or even noble from West ham. Both be cheap enough, both realistic. Underwhelming sure but steady.

Would like Moy from Huddersfield, would be easier to get as well say if we got Wagner. 3
Guest Posted 9 May 2018 Posted 9 May 2018 We need to keep looking at young players from the lower French leagues. The academies over here are fantastic. To prove a point Les Herbiers a team from the lower regions of French football just made it to the cup final against PSG - and they only lost 2-0. To put that into context the annual turnover for Les Herbiers is the same amount as 16 days wages for Neymar an out injured PSG forward !!!! Good players who will cost very little.
