cisono Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 This new development (dead birds in Croatia) seems quite worrying to me though. Also the fact the disease is jumping from one type of bird to another so easily... for the moment, I think UK chickens should be safe to eat, but I am not sure how long for...
cisono Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 I'm getting quite worried actually. I just remembered that my great-greatgrandma apparently died from the same (bird) disease as her (numerous) parrots. Of course, I cannot bear witness as I was not around at the time Still, this seems to be another case of bird diseases transferring over to a human...

cisono Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 this bird flu, a red herring Tell that to all the dead birds
Daniel Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 Like Tom said, live life to the full and do what you enjoy. Id you can get a vacination then do it, if you get chance.
cisono Posted 18 October 2005 Posted 18 October 2005 I have just found this free download... it's purported to be about boosting your immune system so that it can best tackle bird flu: http://www.truthpublishing.com/survivinginfluenza.html
Thracian Posted 18 October 2005 Posted 18 October 2005 I have just found this free download... it's purported to be about boosting your immune system so that it can best tackle bird flu: http://www.truthpublishing.com/survivinginfluenza.html You can find all that out at your local health food shop and it makes a lot of sense to me. I've already mentioned garlic (having no had a cold/flu for more years than I can remember now since I started taking it) but there are other natural preventatives. I would always go for natural against man-made antibiotics etc where at all possible. Besides most folk on this forum are young, student sorts from what I gather - vulnerable because of the populated circles they move in but whose robust constitutions should be well able to cope PROVIDING you get the immune-boosting supplements. Where the elderly are concerned, they are bound to be vulnerable whatever. Such things as flu are nature's way of reducing the populations and from what I've seen of the likely future for some of em coming out of hospital theatres, they won't all be over bothered. We're getting so many directives from Europe and so mny laws from Labour that soon, I expect llegislation that makes it illegal to die - that'll show the bugs!!!!
Katy Posted 18 October 2005 Posted 18 October 2005 I have chickens in my back garden I guess if and when it hits our shores it will spread like wildfire with us all being on each others doorsteps so to speak. I think the best thing is to keep yourself as healthy as you can and keep abreast of the facts and not get bogged down with hearsay.
