I personally feel that Mark Hollis (ex-Talk Talk) and David Sylvian (ex-Japan) are two of the most under-rated British writers ever as they are so avant-garde and experimental within their music. Does anyone else agree????

If you want to check out David Sylvian I think the the 'Dead Bees on a Cake' album his a good place to begin and more friendly. For Mark Hollis, best to initially try out the best of Talk Talk. You will recognise 'It's My Life' - of which IMO was horribly covered by Gwen Stefani !!! The Talk Talk Greatest Hits has a picture of a canary in a cage on the front cover - highlighting how their record label stifled what the band really wanted to do... ...However on the 'Laughing Stock' album there is a picture of a 'colourful bird' that is free - illustrating that the by the time the band came to producing this album, they were free to pursue their creativity !! Enjoy !!! P.S. Good to see McCulloch in there, but also how about Ian Dury (of the Blockheads), Mike Scott (Waterboys) or even Kevin Rowland (Dexy's Midnight Runners) ???????

Surely Rowland is best remembered for his other band The Killjoys A kind of LCFC connection here - When I played in the band Filthkick, we recorded a cover of the Killjoy's Naive - As well as guitar I did vocals on the track and I changed one line to "You try to evade Division 3 and now your just a novelty" - This was aimed at David Pleat and was during the 90/91 season (Famous for Tony James relegation saving goal V Oxford)
