Katy Posted 4 November 2005 Posted 4 November 2005 As some of you may be aware, I live in the quietest remotest part of England so I thought it was rather unusual to hear what I thought were fireworks going off this morning, so I mentioned it to Stez when he came home for lunch and he kindly informed me it was pheasant shooting season. You would have thought I'd have realised having lived here for over 2 years now. Im gutted now, how so very wrong, Fox hunting is banned I think dippy pheasant shooting should be banned too!

Give it time, it wasn't that long ago that Peasant shooting was the favourite pastime of the Landed Gentry
Janx Posted 4 November 2005 Posted 4 November 2005 DISAGREE, Chasing a poor fox for miles upon miles to then be ripped to shreds by a pack of baying hounds is not exactly the same as popping off a couple of pheasants for the pot! No doubt you are a veggie Katy, which of course you are entitled to, but frankly whats the difference to eating pheasants than killing thousands of sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, and fish for the table, after all we dont NEED to eat meat, but most of us choose to. Sorry I will remain firmly in the "flesh chowing gang"!

Sorry I will remain firmly in the "flesh chowing gang"! I knew you would say something like that, and I agree with you to a certain extent BUT the thing that gets me is that they cage them up for months and then release them so they are easier to catch because they are too dopey to realise whats going on, hence why there are a million of them dead in the road and why they keep running in front of my car If they want to eat them, just pick up the countless roadkill that litter up Lincolnshires roads - it just the plain blood thirstyness that pees me off about the upper classes, why do they feel the need to shoot things?

Maybe because they are upper class, and are a bit better off than some people they think they have the given right to do what they want.
