chesterfox Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Whilst feeling the tangible frustration of watching City at the moment, with two weeks before our next game, let's take stock and look at things in perspective. Whilst not looking like a team aiming for promotion we are only two wins from that position and Levein seems to know what the problems are whilst not exactly knowing how to deal with them!! What are the alternatives? Getting somebody in who would have to work miracles with players who would not be his? Possibly making an even bigger balls up and then having to start the whole process again! I think that amongst all the dross there is hope that we can mould together a decent team - we have been more frustrated in the past and hey since the Bloomfield days some of us had to wait a whole generation until the next glory era. My team that would make it would be: Douglas Maybury Gerrbrand McCarthy Sheehan Smith Hughes Gudjonssen Kisnorbo de Vries Hume Just remember the optimism that the one win v Watford achieved - how about starting with revenge against Akinbiyi(despite his hat trick at the w/e- let's cheer him and not piss him off) Craig Leveins blueand white army!!!!!
Louise Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 I agree with everything except...Kisnorbo on the wing?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Whilst not looking like a team aiming for promotion we are only two wins from that position and Levein seems to know what the problems are whilst not exactly knowing how to deal with them!! I agree with you. He knows what we have to do now but will he be able to improve the attacking side of our play on the training ground. Would be good if Alan Cork was still here because he worked well with our strikers at the time like Dickov and Benjamin.
TornadoShaunUK Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 I also think I'd prefer to have Henderson in goal rather than Rab.. =/ Henderson Stearman McCarthy Gerrbrand Johansson Sylla Hughes Gudjohnsson Smith De Vries Hume Subs: Douglas Tiatto Dublin Hammond Williams I think that's about the best line up we can field at the moment if we had a full strength squad. I don't really know about Wesolowski, not seen him play still so I dunno if it be worth having him in one of the center mid slots once hes regained fitness..
Thracian Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 I agree with everything except...Kisnorbo on the wing? Me too. And I like the psychology of cheering Akinbiyi. A lot more effective than winding people up. Come on fans, think of the team!.
Scow Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 It is a long rebuilding process, make no mistake about that. However, Levein doesn't help himself at times. Some of his decision baffle me, even at the best of times. Take the Southampton game for example. He starts With Hammond instead of Hume. With us playing against such a tight defence, we needed that little bit extra in the final third in terms of movement and intelligence. Hammond simply doesn't have a footballing brain. Although he does well in terms of accepting the ball, then turning and running at a defence, his finishing is abysmal. Hume at least drops off, receives the ball and looks to include others in to the game. He mixes this up well by also looking to play on the shoulder of the last defender to get in behind. Hammond just doesn't seem to have much with reagrds to overall awareness.
