jet-plane Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Leicester City need a decent striker. Even Blunkett can see it. We sold Connoly to Wigan and IMO he is a decent striker. Wigan were hardly desperate to get him and only jumped in at the last hour when they were denied on several other fronts. He is currently about fourth choice striker at Wigan and is injured. Wigan will stay up and if they maintain half decent form up to the transfer window will still be in a champions league position. With the go-ahead chairman they have and the fact that they will be an attractive club to then join, i would be amazed if they were unable to attract at least another striker of better quality than Connolly. This would make Connolly 5th choice striker. After his injury he will be unable to get fit without regular games. Wigan will owe Leicester 1million quid. The wigan and Leicester chairman in all probability have an excellent relationship following the Connolly deal and of course JJB's tie-up with our merchandising side. Success for Leicester is good for JJB and Mr Whelan. Connoly back at City for the new year? You've got to admit there's less plausible hypotheses.
SystonFox Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 i doubt it but a loan deal for Connolly back to another championship side would be possible.
lookwhaticando Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 >> You've got to admit there's less plausible hypotheses. Maybe, but that doesn't mean this hypothesis is plausible in its own right. It's a bit of a stretch of the imagination. For a start the link between the two via JJB is a bit of a stretch. Connolly won't be coming back in January.
Scow Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 I can't see it happening, but stranger things have happened. Rumour is that Ellington wants a return to Wigan, so that may pave the way for a Connolly departure.
SystonFox Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 ill bet he wants back to wigan now they are 2nd in the prem
