DIY is not my strong point.

Depending on what type of screws it takes, see if toggle screws could be an option. They spread the weight of the load better and are generally just better for hanging things on plaster in my opinion. Dead easy to fit too.

Think i will stick to the safe option of having it propped up until its safe for the father in law to hang it. If i attempt (mrs wont let me) to use toggle screws (no idea what they are) i fear i will pull the whole wall down 😞

Good call mate, managements word is usually final in my house too.
