Women's sport survey

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi all, I hope you're keeping well.

For my dissertation at university, I'm writing about the underrepresentation of women in sport in the UK.

Could anyone who sees this please complete this survey, it will literally take one minute to complete.

Thank you so much. Feel free to comment any additional opinions you have on this thread too.

Done.

It remains a difficult subject as you can make convincing arguments for both sides. It's self evident that the quality of women's sport isn't at the same level as men's, but it will never get a chance to progress and grow further if it's continually dismissed.

I personally don't watch a huge amount of women's football, mainly because I've reached a point in my life where I only really watch Leicester games and the odd one that takes my fancy. I only really watch England tournament games now too. I do however watch a lot of athletics if it's on and, on that subject, I don't think there's been a footballer to rival Jessica Ennis-Hill, Kelly Holmes, Paula Radcliffe, Dina Asher-Smith etc from a marketability point of view as of yet but I'm sure that time will come.

It's also worth mentioning that women's football was huge before it was banned in the Victorian era and the sport has effectively had to grow again decades on. Any sport would struggle with that start in life.

Decent survey mate, could have been interesting to have added a question relating to age, giving you the option of seeing any change in perception across the demographic.

Best of luck analysing this and with your write up.

Cheers mate. I'm 8500 words in to my dissertation, and need to get the word count up if I'm telling the truth lol.

I do think you made a decent point regarding age. One of the main aspects I've been loooking at is how people  tend to take an interest in women's sport only if it's a patriotic event such as the world Cup.

Do a find and replace, and swap every instance of "Football" for "Association Football". Lob in a "very" before every adjective and you'll be laughing.
