Guest Daniel Posted 15 September 2004 Posted 15 September 2004 Did anyone see it? It was bloody bad, i must admit i quietly laughed to myself but it wasnt nice on the ref. If this was an English club we would be kicked out of the competition, i wonder if Roma will? Ive seen the videos and the footage and you can see excatly who threw it, and it was an amazing shot i must say! Alot of blood thats all ill say till youve seen it yourself!
Mark Posted 15 September 2004 Posted 15 September 2004 Not seen it. It shouldnt be replayed. If Kiev dont get the points for the win then its a disgrace. If its replayed then the supporter could well save Roma from defeat.
Guest freund Posted 15 September 2004 Posted 15 September 2004 Yeah I saw it. It was Anders Frisk, that Swedish hunk. Lots of blood!
Guest Daniel Posted 15 September 2004 Posted 15 September 2004 Sky Sports Report After being struck by a coin thrown by a supporter, referee Anders Frisk abandoned the UEFA Champions League game at the Stadio Olimpico with Dynamo Kiev leading Roma 1-0. The Swedish official was struck as he left the pitch at half time after sending off Roma defender Philippe Mexes. A bloodied Frisk initially delayed the second half before abandoning the game as the fourth official was not experienced enough to take over. However, it has not yet been confirmed if Dynamo, leading through Goran Gavrancic's excellent free kick, will be awarded the points their excellent performance merited. Kiev's excellence on the counter-attack was evident from the start. Maris Verpakovskis should have scored from a cross from the inventive Brazilian, Kleber, but put his header wide. The Brazilians in exile in the Ukraine continued to threaten, Diogo Rincon volleyed over and Kleber's shot nestled in the side-netting of the Roma goal. Gavrancic's aim was better, an excellent free kick beating Ivan Pelizzoli after a needless foul from the increasingly frustrated Francesco Totti. The Roma captain subsequently missed his side's clearest opportunity, blazing well wide. Only Pelizzoli prevented Kiev from extending their lead, with a point-blank block from Rincon and a save at full stretch from Jakob Leko. Roma's response to Kiev's dominance was reprehensible. Totti's petulance was infectious and summer signing Mexes was red-carded for a sly kick at Verpakovskis. As referee Frisk disappeared down the tunnel for half time, he was hit by a coin and shepherded to the dressing room by his assistants. It was to prove the final action of the night. After misconduct on and off the pitch, Roma may feel the repercussions for some time to come.

Once again, although in this instance it was a fans fault, it could easily have been an injury it's a case of two fingers up to the paying public as long as they all get their bundles of cash who cares about all the fans that travelled from Kiev to Roma.
Ash Posted 15 September 2004 Posted 15 September 2004 No need for that in football !! There really isnt . Kiev should be given the points and Roma should face a heavy fine !
Alexikokopops Posted 16 September 2004 Posted 16 September 2004 I'm agreeing with DavieG here. The fourth official wasn't experienced enough to take over? What's the point in having him then, other than to hold the subs board up? Especially when people have traveled all the way from Kiev to Rome. Crazy.

UEFA are a shambles.
Joe_Fox Posted 16 September 2004 Posted 16 September 2004 Nasty stuff. What did the ref do wrong? I bet the English refs and shitting themselves now, they make bad decision all the time. Fulham fans are planning on taking rotten fruit and veg in to the Cottage for the next match.

Macca4lcfc Posted 17 September 2004 Posted 17 September 2004 I think the ref was experienced enough, but aders frisk knew that by another ref going out then roma had a chance to win the match, by abandoning the match, there is a very good chance that roma wont get a point from the match. On the other hand, maybe the 4th official was experienced enough to ref the match, but after anders frisk was hit, and in the hostile conditions, maybe the 4thofficial was not ready for the match with the crowd throwing missiles etc
Guest Posted 17 September 2004 Posted 17 September 2004 Isn't this the 2nd time this has happened to Frisk whilst refereeing a Roma European tie? Roma are my Italian team, but this is bang out of order. As for UEFA, what is the 4th official there for, if he cannot be used in some sort of capacity should the ref or assistants get injured? Too many idiots.....

As it is Roma now have a valid reason for the game to be replayed, i.e. Uefa should have had qualified people there so you can't blame Roma now for the game being abandon.
