Price tag for Leicester City-linked winger revealed as club 'can't rule anything out'

The Foxes have been linked with Germany international Jonas Hofmann - along with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea

A significant pricetag has been placed on the head of reported Leicester City target Jonas Hofmann ahead of the transfer window opening.

The Foxes are among a number of clubs to have been linked with a summer move for the Borussia Monchengladbach winger.

Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested, following an impressive Bundesliga campaign for Hofmann.

The 28-year-old is under contract until 2023 and was previously reported as being valued at around £14m.

However, it seems it would take considerably more than that to prise him away.

The transfers Leicester City want to do to help fresh top-four bid

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl has been discussing the in-demand Germany international and says a departure cannot be ruled out - if the price is right.

"We live in a time when you can't rule anything out," he told Bild am Sonntag, as quoted by bulinews.com.

"We certainly don't want to sell Jonas.

"But if at some point a club is offering 40 million euros for Jonas, we can't say we're not interested."

Hofmann played under Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund, though was sold to Gladbach for £7.2m during the 2015-16 season.

His current team had a mixed 2020-21 season, reaching the last 16 of the Champions League - after getting out of a group that featured Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk - but finishing eighth in the German top-flight and missing out on European qualification for next term.

Hofmann caught the eye with his performances, though, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.

And he has been named in the Germany squad for the upcoming European Championship finals.

He addressed speculation surrounding his future in March, telling Ruhr Nachrichten: "I think it's clear that other clubs will notice you if you perform well.

"Therefore, it is possible that one or the other has already asked.
