Recently got the Godzilla Tokyo Clash, it is pretty fun. Hoping they release an expansion pack and add more monsters and more map pieces to make a bigger city.

Has anyone played Judge Dredd: Helter Skelter? Looks fun but cant seem to find a copy anywhere and looks to be expensive online.

I bought Just One for a “family Christmas party” -type scenario. Really good game.

To those who have also played it: What do you make of the fact it’s a group/team game rather than individually competitive? I was asked to make it competitive for the party so devised an individual scoring system for it; it did a job for what it was but didn’t feel entirely foolproof. Does anyone know of a recommended scoring system for it in such a way? Or do you just play it as “try to beat our record as a group” and enjoy it for what it is?

Not quite the same, but if you want a competive game of a similar'ish nature, I'd suggest something like Decrypto (or Codenames). Both games where you need to give clues for your teammates to guess the words, but it's team vs team.

Both of those look interesting, thanks.

Highly recommend Just One. It’s our favourite game to play when we’ve got people round. Everyone we’ve played it with has since gone on to buy it and that includes people who aren’t really into board games. I think it won Spiel des Jahres as well, which, as far as I understand, is like the board game equivalent of the oscars. It’s so simple yet so fun, especially when you’re between 5-7 players.

A Spiel des Jahres sticker on a board game is actually a pretty good guide for anyone not a confirmed board game geek who is wondering what board games to try. Yes it is basically the board game oscars, but it also really focuses on not-too-complicated games that are fun for families (but not ‘kids’ games - I think they have a Kinderspiel des Jahres for those). Nothing that wins the SdJ is going to be too daunting for anyone, and it will probably be a pretty good game.

Yeah, you’re right. Kennerspiel des Jahres is for the more complex games. I believe games such as Wingspan and Quacks of Quedlinburg have either won or been nominated in that category.
