I'm not really concerned, but with last summer's signings being a bit of a mixed bag, it will be important we find more Dakas than Bertrands or Vestergaards next time. I think, overall, we've been experts at handling transfers for a long time now. Probably since Pearson returned. Yes, there have been plenty of duff signings (to be expected with any club), but I think we've dug up far more gems than the vast majority of clubs. I bet we've been one of, if not, the best at getting value for money in the country in that time. If we can carry on recruiting as well as we have been, then this summer could be a great opportunity to improve the squad. We probably won't be involved in Europe next season, so we can probably go for quality over quantity. I think the main issue with shifting dead wood now is that, as our reputation as a club has grown, so has the wages we hand out. This limits the amount of potential buyers a player could go to without them taking a massive pay cut. Which is unavoidable ofcourse.
An Sionnach Posted 1 February 2022 Posted 1 February 2022 Have people forgot we spent £55 million net last summer , probably the most ever. Our problem is , unless we sell a core player and weaken the squad , we get very little from sales.

I was at the Watford game and thought he was brilliant, but not sure i want to see him thrown under a bus yet. We thrown Luke Thomas in the deep end and he turned out ok. Even though there is a risk like you say, I'd still much rather play Brunt or Nelson ahead of Vestergaard.
